Inspired by French sociologist Jean Baudrillard’s influential text “Simulacres et Simulation,” Aho Ssan’s debut Album “Simulacrum” plays with synthesis and simulation, picking apart notions of modulatable, subjective veneers of reality.

Aho Ssan is the artist name of Paris based producer & composer Niamké Désiré.
After studying graphic design and cinema, he began to compose electronic music and create his own digital instruments.
Informed by his experiences growing up while black in the French suburbs, Niamké, turns a critical gaze towards facades of inclusivity and equality, and how they diverge from lived experiences of discrimination and racism in France.
We talked with Aho Ssan about his musical career and how these times of seclusion impacted his artistic creation.

"A mix of contemporary music, International dancehall/Hip Hop & Love songs... I chose to play music that would reflect love in all of its forms: romantic meditative music to share with your partner in your car with a view on the city, nostalgic Iranian songs that you would listen late at night coming home from a trip, fun bouncy tunes to play in front of your friends while being stuck in traffic ... The mix is some time poetic & nostalgic, other time meditative, overall fun. One can listen to some of the sounds of the streets in Iran, radio samples & some iconic titles that had an impact in Iran's society & also in Europe/USA ! The relationship between Iran and the west is a focal point of this mix, and love is the main thread. Check the titles of the songs in the tracklist below -- it has a meaning for me."
