The corridor seemed endless as the bell buzzed in his ear. Leaving school was his favourite time of the day, such attention to detail in concentrated spells left him feeling numb and dry. As he walked through the wooden doors out into the daylight he could hear the sound of screams and chants from the nearby playground. He remembered the innocence of youth, back before exams, house parties and ate nights. He had never imagined himself to be a teacher, yet here he was lecturing the youth of tomorrow with the knowledge of today. Walking home he sighed. 

Scissorwork is set to release his first EP on the recently founded record label The Other Planet. He delivers four cuts of dreamy house and dusty grooves.

For the last twenty years, Brian Abelson has written, produced, and dj’d groove-oriented music, skipping playfully between disco, hip hop, house, garage rock, synth pop, and techno. His productions and collaborations have come out on labels like Beats in Space, Sinderlyn, Love Injection (Jennifer Vanilla), Lobster Theremin (See Other), Sorry Records, and Toucan Sounds (w/ John Barera) and showcase his penchant for crafting textured, infectious rhythms. As a DJ, Brian flows fluidly between genres and makes heavy use of homemade edits, locked grooves, and drum machine improvisations. He previously maintained a 3-year long residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club, and has played at clubs like Nowadays, Holo, and Elsewhere.
