Barker & Baumecker take Turns from techno, bass, breaks, and experimental terrain with their second album on Ostgut Ton.

Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker’s lives have always revolved around different kinds of music. That’s partly why their productions as Barker & Baumecker are more unpredictable, harder to pin down than what you might expect from a label borne out of a techno club. And while their music is clearly built for dancing, listening to it reveals a deep love and respect for many forms of electronic music – bonding over more experimental dance forms is what brought them together in the first place. Imagining their music at any decent club, but disrupting the flow on the floor is what brings us to their second album Turns. An amalgamation of their unique musical minds, transcending electronic music genres and styles, while further developing and refining the Barker & Baumecker sound aesthetic.

For this pre-listening playlist, to give a better impression of the lengthy album tracks, we skipped through different parts of the songs (beginning, middle and end) and edited the samples into these single sound clips, condensing the up to 13:50 min long tracks (Statik) into 2:00 to 3:00 min edits.

The Slope Forms compilation returns to the scene loaded with varied sounds and artists debuting on the Slope Point label. This third installment of Slope Forms, which will contain 8 tracks, has been in the making for more than two months, during which time an eclectic and diverse selection has been created. The compilation takes us from the characteristic sound of M4 to the more classic dub techno of Schulz Audio or Rüno, approaching minimal with Alex Sfetcu and the more delicate sounds with Dechoes, turning towards heavy atmospheres with Roman Ridder or the Phantom Network, and fleeing towards ambient and drone with the track by mon0 and Submersion.
