Welcome to Word Is Love show with what can only be described as a Disco and Funk groovin session with juicy tracks by David Lee AKA Joey Negro, The Reflex, Crazy P and Maurice Fulton plus a top selection of Disco Classics to boot! 

The show is a great mix of original disco tracks and remixes and has an uplifting vibe throughout. 

The show was recorded in Amsterdam out in Dutch nature under Dutch conditions and was meant to be the first show of a string of European dates I was set to play postponed because of Covid. The show must go on!

My special guest this week is Kiu D, an Italian DJ and Producer who has a long history of writing diverse music including drum’n’bass, broken beat and nu-jazz as part of a collective called Mother Inc.

As a solo artist, Kiu D has focussed on the sounds of nu-disco and funk, but often blurs the boundaries of house and deep tech. As a DJ, his sets are an eclectic mix of genres that makes every party go BOOM! As a producer, Kiu D has had regular outstanding releases on major labels such as Masterworks Music, Hot Digits and Spa In Disco.

Imagine for a minute that Klein MBO would return from the Italo heaven to deliver a brand new EP. How amazing would that be? Sometimes such miracles lay just around the corner. Nijmegen based Luca dell’Orso found some sort of time machine that brought him back to the days of Disco Magic and Il Discotto; a time where wobbly synths, heart felt handclaps and sweet melodies filled the air.

After appearances on Red Laser Records, Bordello A Parigi and Shmlss’ label XXX it’s time for his debut on Utrecht based SoHaSo sublabel OOSSHA. Filled to the rims with stylish Italo-disco, the Eternal Waves-EP has it all.

Slow motion Gaz Nevada-esque disco on Common Occurrence (which comes with two beautiful Cosmo Vitelli-remixes); sun blissed and fast paced happiness on Return Of You and stark new wave- vibes on Constriction.

Closer Bont & Blauw proves that Luca understands the essence of the genre. It has the same fnesse of the best Gazebo-records, back in the day. If you have a heart for italo, you don’t want to miss this perfect wave.

For the last ten years, Jack Tennis has become an integral part of Berlin's nightlife. As a resident DJ of german capitals club legends „Rio", "Scala“ or "King Size“ he has earned a name as a house and disco DJ all around the world.
As a producer, Jack Tennis currently appears mainly through disco-edits and tracks on different EPs for UK’s influential Disco Label Midnight Riot (run by Yam Who!) or on the new Too Slow To Disco Edits (TSTD) label from Berlin run by DJ Supermarkt.
He's also one half of the slowmotion-house duo „Hotlane“ (together with swedish singer Agnes Linn), released on the legendary german indie-disco imprint Gomma Rec..
