Fresh from Breaking Bad on the Main Stage of Electric Daisy Carnival (which saw Bryan Cranston resurrect his infamous Walter White character on stage with the band in front of 80,000 people), UK trio Above & Beyond release their latest single 'Counting Down The Days'. 

Taken from their Billboard dance number #1 album 'We Are All We Need', 'Counting Down The Days' is also Above & Beyond’s first track to feature the vocals of former Mercury Music awards nominee Gemma Hayes. 

"We first came across Gemma through a bootleg mix that found its way on to our Group Therapy radio show ," said the band's Jono Grant. "Coming from a folk background, her voice has an honesty and emotion to it that really stood out from the pack and felt a perfect match for this song co-written with Victoria Horn." 

Set against a laidback summer groove, Gemma's hazy vocal tones perfectly capture the melancholia of the drifting relationship on the Radio Edit.

After picking up mainstream radio support from Radio 1, ‘On A Good Day (Metropolis)’ is now being released alongside a drum & bass rework from scene stalwarts J Majik and Wickaman (known for their uplifting, club-smashing remix of Deadmau5’s chart hit ‘I Remember’), which has already been hammered by Andy C, Chrissy Chris (1 Xtra), Radio 1’s Grooverider, Hype, Judge Jules and Adam F. A previously unreleased acoustic version will feature as iTunes exclusive track.

Tapping into the vocal’s narrative of triumph over adversity, the official music video centres on the story of Detroit’s Georgia Street Community Collective, and their drive to regenerate the derelict buildings and industrial graveyards of Detroit and transform them into urban farms and community gardens.

Providing a twisted counterpoint to the uplifting ‘Flying By Candlelight’, the second chapter of Above & Beyond’s ‘Common Ground Companion EP’ sees Jono, Paavo and Tony unleash ‘Distorted Truth’. 

This is Above & Beyond at their rawest, channelling the vitality of classic trance instrumentation into a track that manages to simultaneously be brutish and beautiful. Debuted during the band’s sold out Group Therapy 300 celebrations in Hong Kong, an attuned listener might hear a nod to the sounds of the Far East in the breakdown. 

Featuring both ‘Original’ and 'Club' mixes of three tracks that were part of the journey towards 'Common Ground’, the band’s 2018 album which debuted at Number 3 in Billboard’s Album Chart last February. Above & Beyond’s ‘Common Ground Companion EP’ includes ‘Flying By Candlelight’ (feat. Marty Longstaff), ‘There’s Only You’ (feat. Zoë Johnston) and ‘Distorted Truth’.
