After a little break from music with life's other distractions, the record shelve were calling again for a couple of DJ gigs over at Sheaf St and Outlaws Yacht Club early in October.

Two and a half hours of left-field disco that eases through the gears. Many of these records have been on repeat for the last few years, so pleased to capture them in this mix.

The first Sunset Lovers show in 2023 takes you on a sunny day in Pikes Ibiza with a 3-hour-long mix from a DJ and producer well-known as Warriors of the Dystotheque. 

Warriors of the Dystoteque (WotD) is the brainchild of Jonny Mac, who spent 25 years DJing across the globe alongside Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) & Leeroy (Ex Prodigy), Shaun Ryder & Bez (Happy Mondays).

Made up of producers, engineers, and musicians from Ireland, UK, and USA, the WotD project is an online music love affair. Incorporating elements from broken beat, jazz, downtempo, balearic, acid house, techno, and electronica, WotD opposes the mainstream cliches of modern music.

Airplay on BBC R1, 6 Music, and RTE caught the ears of promoters in Ibiza. This summer and the WotD headphones came back out as they soundtracked the hedonistic poolside at Pikes and put the sun to bed from Cafe del Mar’s hallowed DJ booth & with the success of the DJ sets in summer 22 WotD will be hosting a full day at Pikes on July 23.

A self-proclaimed proprietor of all things chill, Faint Waves (Justin Weems) from Daytona Beach, Florida, specialises in mellow mood music. In addition to releasing his unique music independently, Faint Waves has had the pleasure of working with labels including NuNorthern Soul, Dream Chimney and Café Del Mar. Over to the mix. Faint Waves weaves between musical peers and inspirations, with lovely selections from Lee Ritenour, Max Essa and Sorcerer among others. The mix is clearly a tribute to the artists included, but the mellow mood is consistent throughout. In that sense, the mix runs parallel to Faint Waves' own musical intent, always focusing more on the mood than anything else. Two of his own records make the cut for this mix, ‘Aphrodesia' and 'Eternal Seas' from NuNorthern Soul, the latter being unofficially remixed exclusively for this mix.
