A key figure in the electronic dance scene in Cologne, Germany, David Hasert cues up a new release for BLOND:ISH’s ABRACADABRA label, and invites some close friends to collaborate with on the opulent ‘The Sky Is Crying’ single.  With previous releases for Dantze, Katermukke and the Like Records label, Hasert shapes an emotionally uplifting modern day classic, that includes a remix from Niconé.

“After working in many studio rooms without a view, I decided that I would no longer be producing music without a window in front of me.  There's a lot of things that inspire me, like movies, old records and especially just looking up at the sky.  We had a big flood here in Germany and it rained for days.  One day I decided to record the sounds of the thunder and the rain on my window.  My friend Francesco Mami, whom I met years ago at Burning Man, was there, and played some melodies on the piano, and from then on, the idea behind "The Sky Is Crying” grew. The lyrics are inspired by a Gary Coleman classic blues track.

For “Home”, I collaborated for the first time with my good friend Esther Silex.  Usually I mostly work alone, or with Frankie who is helping me shape my sound, but in this case Esther and myself decided to start a track from scratch.  I like the way the track flows and that it’s untypically not just working towards a drop or ‘a moment’. It just flows and flows…

Moments of Truth Remixes

When 'Moments of Truth', the debut full length LP from Tim Engelhardt (@timengelhardt), landed in May this year, it took a lot of people by surprise. Released on Poker Flat Recordings, it was clear that a very exciting new talent had arrived - one that at the tender age of 19 had found a voice and sound far beyond his years.

The stunning LP combines his extensive classical training with an eclectic dance edge, utilizing complex melodies with subtle harmonies. It's his elegant, unique touch that makes his music so utterly mesmerizing and sets him far above the competition. (Magnetic Magazine)

This EP further confirms that observation, consisting of three beautifully realised remixes of some of the album’s highlights.

'Kissing Your Eyes' is reworked by André Hommen (@andrehommen) - the German househead who  flips the original into a deep and loopy house bomb - the percussion is tight and fully wound up - sure to unravel a few dancfloors in the near future.

The British DJ and producer Tim Green (@timgreeen) sets to work on 'Eyes Closed' - infusing the original with his own character - a thick, pulsing bass drum, long, dramatic strings and the superb vocal from one of the album's crowning glories.

Fideles’ (@fideles) remix of 'Beyond Time' is typically sublime - the Italian duo Daniele Aprile & Mario Roberti take the track for a spacey, trippy ride with smooth arps and a killer groove reminiscent of Âme at their most progressive.

February 2019 marks two years of ATLANT and our most important release so far as we combine the musical talents of Nimes (FR) born Darlyn Vlys with Sydney (AUS) vocalist Haptic, alongside stunning re-imaginings by electronic visionaries Mind Against, Tim Engelhardt and Peter Pardeike.

‘Horse’ first appeared on radars when Ame b2b Dixon premiered this emotional vocal to close their Innervisions hosted Royal Albert Hall 2018 event. With the rumour mill gathering pace it was a challenge to keep things under wraps, especially because we wanted to create an ATLANT package truly worthy of this special track.

The Original’s strummed bass-line and organic percussion immediately catch your attention, with everything stripped back to lay bare Haptic’s raw emotional shoegaze tone. A lesson in restraint, Darlyn Vlys’s subtle use of studio effects and sumptuous synth layers add warmth as Haptic asks us to pause, before leading the way to a string drenched chorus to ‘just give in’. Now the track develops, with the lyrics becoming ingrained in our memory. As the bass and beats exit, this time with a greater sense of urgency, Vlys leaves you wanting more.

Italian-born, Berlin-based duo Mind Against need limited introduction to anyone familiar with their music for Afterlife or Life And Death. These guys rarely provide remixes ... when they do, the output is always something special as witnessed on their recent Celestial Dub of SCB’s ‘Test Tubes’. We are privileged to welcome them to the ATLANT family.

Alessandro and Federico have delivered a true masterpiece with a deep dark groove gently underpinned by echoed crashes and atmospheric arps, as the vocal enters. A masterclass in drama, Mind Against accentuate every breath and lyric before a subtle deep bass drop increases the tension, letting ‘Horse’ run wild into a swirling arpeggiated crescendo that temporarily disorientates the listener, however Haptic’s vocal is always there to lead you home.

It is a complete pleasure to have BOg’s long time collaborator and good friend in the supremely talented Tim Engelhardt onboard. Tim’s Horse update subtly emphasises all of the key elements of the original, while increasing the dramatic orchestration, making the bass pulse and enveloping the lyrics in swathes of cinematic melodies as a sustained synth buzz and beautiful piano lines add incredible emotion. There is a purity and real beauty here.

The EP closes courtesy of the Peter Pardeike [Connaisseur | Innervisions] who builds on core events of the original to create a rich sonic tapestry perfect suited for unforgettable club moments. Peter’s teasing use of the vocal and extended breakdown raise a heightened sense of anticipation before whirring synths simmer and explode, with new melodies creating a sense of euphoria. Absolute perfection.

Inspired by a variety of artistic influences, the music of Darlyn Vlys offers distinctive atmospheres that go beyond sound. Managing to capture both nostalgic and futuristic essences, his experimental and stylistic approach creates electronic music that grabs your attention through sharp elements and cinematic moods.

Darlyn’s visceral voice has been in demand, with releases on labels like Get Physical, Upon You, Suara, Natura Sonoris, Sincopat, Polymath, My Favorite Robot.

Haptic (Mark Forester) wants only to create the most emotionally powerful music that he can. After studying guitar and piano as a boy, he moved into the world of synthesis beginning the journey with his first additive synthesiser, the K5000W.

Since then he has mixed sound for film, television, and theatre, and collaborated with artists all over the globe, releasing on labels such as Still Vor Talent, Suara, Microcastle, and Sincopat, all while developing his own sounds and technologies, and running his record label, Surveillance Party out of home base Sydney.
