grabación en directo de un concierto realizado el 4 de diciembre de 2021 en la sala meteoro
de barcelona para una fiesta de offline meeting point.
se dejan ver un mayor interés en la improvisación y nuevas inspiraciones/influencias que me
han interpelado bastante durante el transcurso del último año: el sonido y las técnicas de
producción del dub y el rastro del dub en la música electrónica de los años noventa y
dosmiles (basic channel, scorn, fax +49-69/450464...), la pieza “a destajo, 500
performances en un día” de domingo sánchez blanco y los montajes complicados para
directos (ver keith fullerton whitman - complicated lives).
más allá de querer mostrar estas influencias “porque sí”, la intención del concierto era
aprovechar la oportunidad de un directo en un nuevo evento de música electrónica de
barcelona para poner sobre la mesa otro tipo de propuestas en un contexto que -a mi
parecer- desde hace un par de años se siente un poco estancado energética, política y
estéticamente. en especial desde la absorción/centralización de las fiestas vinculadas a la
escena de soundcloud en las dos grandes discotecas de la ciudad de barcelona, y el foco
de estos espacios en el público internacional y turista.
como suele pasar con mi música, hay cosas que funcionan bastante bien y otras que no
tanto, pero siento que salió bonito. hay muchos momentos con los que disfrutar y sentir
cosas así que espero que os guste.
muchas gracias a todas las personas que vinieron al concierto, y a todo el equipo de offline
meeting point y la sala meteoro.

there’s a greater interest in improvisation and new influences/inspirations for my work are at
show here. specially the sound and production techniques of dub and nineties and aughts
dub-influenced electronic music (basic channel, scorn, fax +49-69/450464...), as well as the
art piece “a destajo, 500 performances en un día” by domingo sánchez blanco and
complicated live setups (see keith fullerton whitman - complicated lives).
beyond wanting to showcase these influences ”just because”, my intention for this concert
was to take the opportunity of a live show at a new party for electronic music in barcelona
and put a different kind of musical proposal on display. as this is a context that has felt -at
least to me- a little stagnated energetically, aesthetically and politically for the past couple of
years. especially since the soundcloud scene-related parties have been absorbed by the two
biggest clubs in the city. and given these club’s interest in an international and turist public.

as it’s usual with my music, there are some things that work really well, and some that don ́t.
but i feel the concert ended up being really cute. there’s plenty of moments to enjoy and to
feel things to. so i hope u like it.

The humble Frog of Earth ponders nothing as it watches its world unfold. Surprised with a sprinkling of rain the Frog quickly becomes overwhelmed and we hear the bubbling of its brain. As the shower passes, the Frog settles into a stupefied calmness and we can hear the swirling water rushing by and the clarity of the air. As panicking birds swoop and flutter around, the Frog is overcome by a fascination and an acceptance of its world. However, as a screeching train approaches and roars by, the Frog is taken from its acceptance and inverted into a world of denial and confusion where faint questions of how and why have seemingly no answer. But as the sun beams out from behind the clouds, the quiet drone of a bee goes by and the Frog, seeing its own glistening reflection, deftly lets go of its questions, and the need of any answers.

Frog of Earth is the debut LP by the Frog of Earth, and is available now to pre-order via bandcamp in single disc 12" vinyl, and in all digital formats.
