For his debut release and also that of his label, Eternal Ocean, Ronan delivers a exploratory 4 track EP of modern dance music. Touching on his influences as an classically trained instrumentalist and jazz improviser he uses the forms of club music to create sonic environments that envelop the listener with layers of narrative depth and idiosyncratic character. From the whipcrack bass pressure of ‘Internal Revelation’ and the sensual trance of ‘Surface Dive’ to the aqueous and narcotic take on UK techno found in ‘Cellular Matrix’ and ‘Tracheal Impulse’ he finds himself in a singular space, setting up a strong and unique foundation from where there’s no telling what he’ll come up with next.

Opener, ‘Plastic Games’ is pacy, trippy electro; shadowy loops steeped in urgency - the shape of things to come from Grammar of Movement. Dysphoria ensues via the robotic, melancholic ‘Model 1600’. Next, ‘IOI’ offers stripped back food for thought, slowly sucking you into the acid whirlpool. On the flip, Grammar of Movement nods to other influences. ‘Sad Juno’ lets broken beats smack against swirling electronics. Rounding out the EP on a groovier note, ‘K-Mix’ is a sonic laser-quest adventure.

Sheets of paper filled the streets, lightly rustling across the pavement like tumbleweed. There was a solemn feeling in the air, the outcome of last night had not been what many had expected. In fact, it was the complete opposite. Now the power was in the hands of the corrupt and for many their dreams had been broken. They were now heading for an uncertain future.

Listening to his productions, it's difficult to believe that Utrecht-born DJ and producer Ineffekt is just 18 years of age. Gaining recognition in the Dutch city for his tripped out sets, this soon spread across the rest of the Netherlands which further broadened his interest in combining different musical forms. His debut EP lands on Coloray's Intercept Records and features two originals and a bonus souped up version, with our pick 'Broken Dreams' heading straight into rave territory with crisp breaks and a driving bass line.
