The award winning Spanish and English language radio programs Nosotras Trabajamos en la Costura was a portrait of Puerto Rican women in the garment industry in New York City during the mid-20th century. Produced by the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, the programs utilized oral history interviews conducted with garment workers as part of the Puerto Ricans in New York - Voices of the Migration Oral History project. The Puerto Ricans In New York project was intent on interviewing community leaders and pioneros (early community settlers) and retrieving primary source materials, leading to the founding of CENTRO’s Archives.
