Carlycore’s ‘Dissociative Thoughts’ EP is a sonic love letter centring raw emotion and identity exploration. The EP's title reflects a fractured reality, navigating joy and alienation as a trans woman in Lima, while the erratic genre-bending mirrors Carlycore's own dissociation and unfiltered self-expression.

Anchored by a fierce blend of Afro-peruvian rhythms , heavy perreo, and ambient transitions, ‘Dissociative Thoughts’ evokes the frenetic energy of “licuadora” music (blending machine music) of the Peruvian underground scene, where DJs switch through multiple genres and clashing rhythms within minutes. From the euphoric release of ‘Éxtasis en mi mente’  to existential reflections in ‘El tiempo pasa volando’, each track accelerates through percussive textures, blending reggaeton beats with industrial experimentation.  ‘Contacto 0’  embodies heartbreak and frustration, channeling unresolved tension into blistering, high-energy beats. Embracing a visceral, unpolished aesthetic, the EP serves as an intimate and unapologetic immersion into Carlycore’s fragmented but resilient world.

‘Dissociative Thoughts’ is out on the 22nd November 2024, released in collaboration by Doña Valentina and Scorpio Red.
