Firm label favourite SD makes his debut on the Dispatch Blueprints series with two tracks heavily influenced by the sound of the late 90s.

Continuing the homage to the old skool sound that shaped modern-day drum and bass, Blueprints 006 finds SD celebrating that magic period of peak musicality in the late 90s.

With its epic, cinematic intro and the return of upright double bass samples, '1997' is a classy roller that twists and weaves its way through old school drum work and vocal samples - the perfect modern progressive update.

'One Kind' continues the same theme but with a nostalgic piano lead and a bassline reminiscent of the deep, early Matrix/Metro Recordings sound.

Combining classic liquid sentiments with the grit of modern drum and bass, SD delivers essential listening.

Since signing with us three years ago, Alexey Fuifanov (Command Strange) is an artist that has proved himself time and time again. His past releases have gained support from the likes of Andy C, Goldie, Hype, Bukem, Fabio & Grooverider, and have all seen airplay on prestigious stations such as BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. 

The tail end of 2018 we saw Alexey release a stunning four track EP on Liquid V, and following that he joined us on tour to celebrate the labels 25th anniversary. Continuing into 2019, he continues to show his diversity with a deadly two track single on V Recordings. ‘Ahead Of Me’ and ‘Skyline’ have already proved how well Alexey can work with the Alibi boys, with both tracks gaining huge support. They join forces once more for the first track, ’Stardust’, a sub-low powerhouse. Alexey’s powerful sound design is evident in the second track ‘Major Groove’, with its cage-rattling reese work. 

Command Strange has racked up achievements that are distant dreams for many artists twice his age. Even so, as he continues to develop, collaborate, and innovate, there's no doubt there are many more incredible things to come for Command Strange. Watch carefully.

From 'V Classic' to 'Planet V' and beyond, the V Recordings camp have been scene leaders in creating era-defining, zeitgeist-capturing compilations. And, following on from the retrospective 'Foundation' project, it's now time for another chapter in the story - 'Future'

Bryan Gee, widely known as one of the most influential selectors and A&R men in the business, has taken his time to compile and curate something that's more than just another album. This is Bryan's personal vision of what's to come, not only for the V brand, but for Drum & Bass music as a whole.
Never swayed by fashions, fads and sub-genre divisions, Bryan and Jumpin Jack Frost's family of labels have been a benchmark for quality from time immemorial. So, when they call this album 'Future', that comes with authority.

For V Recordings, the future is as much about building on what's come before as it is about brand new innovations. So, we see contemporary masters like Benny L, Voltage and L-Side pay homage to the classics with remixes of Roni Size, Ray Keith, Krust and Dillinja. Artificial Intelligence go back in on their anthem 'Uprising' to give it a cutting-edge reconfiguration, and Dr Meaker's 'Fighter' gets the S.P.Y treatment.

Then there are the 2020 visions of artists from across the spectrum of Drum & Bass music. The likes of Alibi, Paul T & Edward Oberon, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, DJ Marky & Dirtbag, Bladerunner, Zero T, Command Strange, Carlito & Addiction, Jonny L & Need for Mirrors deliver darkness and light, savagery and euphoria, musicality and hype in equal measure. And that's just scratching the surface.

The future that this album sets out before us is one where pigeon-holes and categories are unimportant. Certified legends rub shoulders with breakthrough artists. Heavyweight dancefloor bangers co-exist with soulfully melodic flavours. This music is unified, not by style or by marketability, but purely by the vibe. If that's what a V Recordings future looks like, we can relax. The scene is in safe hands.

Fresh off the back of his latest installation of rollers and heavy hitters, FD drops in for a welcome visit to CIA. Already a firm favourite of the label, the producer’s recent form has seen him consistently stepping up through the gears, firing off a volley of dancefloor weapons and soulful cuts.
FD’s latest offering sees the producer deliver three refined yet weighty DJ tools, as he helps to connect the dots between sound for the more daring listeners and selectors. As usual with his work, each track turns in different directions, thoughtfully yet powerfully constructed.
‘First Sound’ is a lesson in class and stripped back simplicity, rolling and weighty yet with a character all of its own, making for a classic DJ tool. ‘Timberline’ takes proceedings a little darker and more techno-tinged with it’s looped soundscapes and layers, while the latest collaboration between FD and Total Science, ‘True North’ brings things down a notch, yet is loaded with enough bassweight to do serious damage.
