Taru is an Italian musician whos research weaves electronic experiments influenced by techno, jazz and classical baroque. He has released several albums, including Post Analogic Tales with Nous Disques and Spazio Primitivo with Secuencias Temporales. 

Minimalist variations and obsessive repetitions are essential parts of his practice and compositional signature, and some pieces move between the blurred lines of future-oriented electronics. Playing with timbral spatiality, his intention is to create a continuous musical flow, in search of (self-)knowledge and an attempt to deconstruct the concept of time. The result is like a merry-go-round that rises and falls in our perception of things. 

The idea behind this set is to narrate a fantasy universe set in the near future where hybridization between machines and humans has taken place and where biological and mechanical boundaries have merged.

A synth was used that allows modulations on three different oscillators in subtractive synthesis, playing on different parameters and tonalities. The tension of the repetitiveness is provided by the use of an arpeggiator connected to the synth, which increases the sense of temporal vertigo. A reverb was also connected to the synth, also modulated, to restore some atmospheric aspects to the rigid timbre of oscillators.

Since bacteria were underwater, the first step in evolution was a mistake.
Thus all the steps that have led to evolution and survival have been errors and accidents: a deformation caused the bacteria to perceive light and develop eyes.
That genetic line survived, and it reproduced by inheriting its genes.
There have been errors in the genetic lines that allow organisms to perceive more information from their environment. By perceiving more information, they are able to survive and develop, protect themselves, and even manipulate this environment.
Natural selection and evolution are just mistakes…
Glitches in genetic systems.
Maybe it has no purpose at all.
We are all the result of a series of mistakes … We are all the result of a series of glitches.

Amotken presents his 4th album: “Life’s A Glitch“, the result of a two-year exploration where a synergy fusion between organic textures and digital and analog glitches takes place. Where electricity adjoins a wooden body and strings to explode in endless textures and changes, taking the narrative through the most innocuous places.
