After losing myself through 2020-2022, I was finding it hard to get in the studio and write music. There was no inspiration or motivation that I could find around me. Even though beauty is everywhere, when we reach these dark places, we can't even see what is right in front of our faces.

After falling in love again, and starting to love myself again, I started forcing myself into the studio to write... just write. No expectation, no creative limitations. Just expressing what I was feeling. With this, I found myself in love with creating again. I wrote 5 songs in a very short period, all much different than my usual.  Dubbed  "Emo Tyler" to my friends lol.

The first track, "Feel Myself Again". Is pretty self explanatory. It felt so good to... Just be me again, be creative, be fun, enjoy life's path.

"Wanna Breathe" is about letting everything go, and taking nothing for granted. I have always tried to base my existence around gratitude, and when those dark places hit, I became the worst hypocrite and my own worst enemy. Along with my rebirth, I started to focus more on gratitude, expressing it, showing it, just... being thankful. From the simple things such as waking up every day, to the more complex ones, like relationships in my life and wonderful people, but learning to even be grateful for all the crappy people in my life. Even though they did not add per say, value to my existence. They reminded me of the balance of good and bad, and made me appreciate, and love my friends even more so.

This brings me to the last track. "First Time". I found someone, and was falling in love with her, and had the most wild experience while hanging out with this girl. Everything felt new, the first time I kissed, the first time I heard music, the first time I ate food, so many firsts again.

I went home after, and wrote a song inspired by this feeling "my rebirth" into being me, and everything that means.

I wanted to just "write from my heart". Once again, no expectation. Not trying to make a banger, or anything. Just expressing. This tune turned into a  9 minute sonic journey of feelings.

After completeing all of these peices of art from my heart, the ego and panic set in.

Where am I going to release these? Who will want to listen? I knew my friends and family loved it, but would everyone else that listens to my music?

It is so so different from my normal music.

I sent these to ENiGMA Dubz, and he loved them and said he wanted to release on his label. I couldn't believe it, my mind was absolutely mind-blowen.
It was so beautiful how the universe rewarded me after so much had happened. AND it reminds me to remind you, always make art, music, everything from the heart. When it comes out in its purest form, that is when you yourself as an artist are giving to the world.

The instant gratification or reward will not always be there, and most times it won't be. This was a beautiful reminder from existence, to keep doing what I am doing.

Next comes Rays - a deep, pulsating, and otherworldly melodic roller - featuring the mystical vocals of UK goddess Sahala, as its light radiates and cleanses your very being. 

Missing You switches the vibe up to rich vocal liquid, with Tallulah Blue’s stunning and infectious melodies seeping in melancholy and reflection.
Butterfly serves as the perfect dose of escapism, with its luscious halftime soundscapes and clear trip hop influences before epic title track Need You Now closes the EP - matching liquid DnB melodic sensibility with complex drum breaks, Tallulah Blue’s thunderous vocals and serious bass weight - bringing the EP to a climactic close, a crescendo of longing, emotional turmoil and catharsis.

With DDD favourite Abstrakt Sonance’s second LP on the label ‘Nature of Things’, he is taking his organic fuelled, harmonically intuitive, bass driven madness to new heights. 

With his signature blend of primitive percussion, scattered chops and savage sub frequencies - Abstrakt’s record is an 11 track tour-de-force of production mastery, impish tendency and true artistic expression.  

To single out particular tunes on the album seems a fallacious exercise, given the strength in-depth of the sequence of work - with guest appearances scattered in from producers Wraz., Coltcuts and Outsider, alongside the stunning vocals of Sahala and bars from the godson of grime, Saskilla. 

Let us just tell you that each one will have you flying through the jungle like tarzan on speed, with enough adrenaline to fend off any silverback gorilla and emotional guile to lead a troop of chimpanzees. 

Existential musings over the Nature of Things can be confusing at best - but with Abstrakt Sonance it equates to sonic and visual clarity.

I prepared a special set for him, because he is one of my biggest inspirations. I know I am lucky, very lucky. This year I got asked to showcase some of my more emotional. chill music, that I produce (and mix). At first I took it as a hit to the ego, not playing my usual midnight massacre of beats, but then I realized I had a job to facilitate an experience, and felt honored that I had been asked.
This is a much different journey than the ones I have previously taken you on, this is much like my mix in the Shapes series.
Thank you to Byron, The Grove, and especially the whole team at The Secret Garden. Not only did they make it sound immaculate, they also recorded the set for me. It wouldn't be here without them.

Feel Myself Again (Guzheng Edit) is living proof of the connection music provides. 

Two artists from completely different worlds and walks of life, coming together to create something truly special and unique - containing otherworldly beauty, heightened feeling and deep emotion.  

Following the success of Abstrakt Sonance’s melodic 140 dubstep anthem Feel Myself Again going viral - Shelajit was creatively compelled to post their own videos on socials, playing along to the audio with their traditional Chinese Guzheng instrument. 

The video caught our attention - and loving it so much, we reached out to Shelajit to see if they would be keen to record the parts properly for a new version of the track. 

Within a month, not only was this achieved, but Shelajit also added their vocals, shot their own music video - and after some creative back and forth with Abstrakt on the arrangement and mix, the final version of Feel Myself (Guzheng Edit) was born. 

The resulting piece of visual and music storytelling is nothing short of sublime, where the asian influences, textures and melodic and harmonic flourishes provided by the Guzheng add drops of magic onto Abstrakt’s already exemplary soulful dubstep production.
