It was a cold rainy night in downtown LA.. the spring of 2021, when JD stumbled into a Mick Jenkins session talking shit. After Mick said JD was not a real rapper, JD let out a horrifying cackle and challenged Mick to a dual. With 5 minutes on the clock, JD went in the booth first.... Mick had an extra 4 minutes with JD in the booth, or so the legend says... but the rest... is history.

Had these on the ol' lappy for goin on two years cause my girlfriend and such said I should "pan" the tracks and otherwise "mix" them and today I got around to it only to discover I never "saved" the samples and the "EXS24" is a "piece of shit" which attempts to invisibly enforce an arbitrary standard of entry to the industry which is dependent upon "practice" and "learning how to mix". This glass ceiling, as it were, is obscured by the notion that you can "just check out" a series of "easy to understand and relatively quick how-to-guides or youtube tutorials". Yeah, right. Why the fuck do you think I stopped practicing all the instruments I used to know and started yelling words out of key and time into a microphone. A deeply engrained anti-establishment sentiment, sure, but I'm also looking for the most I can get for the least amount of effort while still maintaining the kind of intellectual, artsy, thinker type vibe. So suck on these fat beats and the attached implications.
