Eigentlich könnte man an dieser Stelle den Auszug aus dem Intro von Schleichcast°34  für sich sprechen lassen - so als Einladung zum Reinhören. Doch das würde über die Tatsache hinwegtäuschen, dass es in den Worten von Alan Watts um die ganz großen Fragen des Lebens geht und jene Zeilen in genau dieser Caption etwas aus dem Kontext gerissen wurden, um dir den Klick auf den Play-Button schmackhaft zu machen. Wait, oder brauchtest du genau diesen Spoiler, weil du jetzt total neugierig und hyped auf eine kleine Philosophie-Stunde in diesem Set bist, zumal sie dann erwartungsgemäß sogar von lieblichen Downtempo-Sounds untermalt sein wird?! Es könnte ja sein, dass du dem Schlag Mensch angehörst, der einfach 24/7 Hintergrund-Musik braucht. Musik für den Normalzustand quasi (fühlen wir, you’re not alone). Doch selbst wenn du weder solch ein above-average music nerd bist, noch ein ausgeprägtes Interesse für Philosophie hegst, dann stehen die Chancen gut, dass du diesen Schleichcast lieben wirst. ~Zeit für ein schleichendes Frage & Antwort Spiel~

>>Wer seid ihr und woher kommt ihr?
Moin, wir sind Simon & Marvin Tober. Im Herzen sind wir Brüder – auf dem Papier allerdings Cousins. :) Wir kommen ursprünglich aus der schönen Stadt Hildesheim, die jedes Jahr erneut um den Titel der kleinsten Großstadt Deutschlands kämpft. Marvin wohnt aktuell noch dort und Simon seit Ende 2017 in Dresden. Trotz der Entfernung haben wir jeden Tag Kontakt.

>>Wie kamt ihr zum Auflegen?
Wir haben damals zusammen die ersten Cluberfahrungen gemacht und hatten von Beginn den Wunsch, selber zu veranstalten und aufzulegen. Während Simon schon erste Erfahrungen am Plattenspieler mit Drum n Bass Vinyls sammelte, interessierte sich Marvin für Eventplanung. Später haben wir einander gezeigt wie was geht und die Symbiose war perfekt. Als uns etwas später noch Simon Köhler, ein guter Freund von früher, an seinem uralten Laptop zeigte, wie das Ganze auch digital funktioniert, war es um uns geschehen. Ab 2010 haben wir laufend veranstaltet (damals „Alle Tanzen“) und auch aufgelegt. Uns wird ein Händchen für abwechslungsreiche und bunte Sets nachgesagt.

>>Was hat euch für das Set inspiriert?
Es gibt kaum einen Podcast von uns, in dem Alan Watts seinen Weg nicht hineingefunden hat. Sein Talk „Thoughts Are Like Clouds“, aus dem wir Snippets im Intro verbaut haben, war auf jeden Fall der Anstoß. Außerdem mögen wir es, schon fast vergessene Tracks mit neuen zu komponieren. So hat es einer der ersten Downtempo Tracks von Tony Casanova (Atric), sowie auch unveröffentlichte Tracks von Glenn Shaw & Joe Carl, mit in den Podcast geschafft. All in all geht der Mix eher nach vorne. :)

>>Welche Ziele als Künstler:innen wollt ihr noch erreichen?
Anfang 2020 haben wir zusammen mit Felix und Max Bödder einen gemeinnützigen Verein in unserer geliebten Heimatstadt gegründet. Mit unserem wdlnds e. V. möchten wir nicht nur Musikveranstaltungen auf unserer eigenen Open Air Gelände durchführen, sondern vor allem allen
Kulturschaffenden und Freigeistern im Umkreis und überregional die Chance geben, mitzugestalten. Aktuell sind wir rund 50 Mitgliedern, worauf wir sehr stolz sind. :) Unsere gesamte Energie fließt aktuell in dieses Projekt und das ist auf jeden Fall auch der Plan für die kommenden Jahre.

• What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

    My musical taste has always been quite broad, so it's hard for me to name specific genres or artists. When it comes to electronic music, however, I have long felt at home in downtempo with its many facets. It's always important to have a good portion of boom and a lot of creak. In my own productions, of which there are also some in the set, I like to play with voices. Especially experimenting with rap has been a lot of fun lately!

• What do you think makes a good afterhour?

   Definitely the people! Whether it's sun and park or curtains and fog is up to you ;) But in any case, it's important to me to be attentive to individuals, especially in larger groups.

• For recordings of gigs: How did you feel about the gig?

   The set is certainly not flawless in some places, but the atmosphere in the Beate Uwe was once again terrific! The sock party always brings a very special homeliness. Perfect to end a Sunday with your loved ones and start the new week sleepy.

So, I hear the upload of a @kater_blau -Debut often comes with a bit of a background story. So, here’s mine and be aware, it's going to be kick-you-in the-crotch-spit-you-in-the-neck soppy-sentimental: 

If someone had told me two years ago that I would play a show at my favourite nightclub in Berlin, I’d probably have declared them to be out of their mind. When the big night had finally come, I felt like embarking upon one of the scariest dares in my life. However, I miraculously managed to put all of my anxieties into a box right before the show, and instead enjoyed playing it tremendously - smiling, singing & dancing with everyone else. 

Of course, it went far from perfect. After my set, I realised that I had accidentally stopped the recording somewhere in the middle without even noticing, - probably with one of my clumsy dance moves. 😅 But I sure had a blast. In an attempt to recreate the magic, I recorded the set again, hoping, you'll still enjoy listening to it.

1000 times THANKS to some of my oldest & newest friends for the support that night. But above all, CHEERS to the best crowd I could've imagined! This was the best early birthday present EVER & I can't wait to be back! 💜

P.S.: Big thanks to @ueberhaupt_ausserdem for helping me with the mastering & for creating this well-tempered listening experience! 
Also, thanks to my lovely friends & team mates, who couldn't be there, but shared some soothing words with me before the gig & my excitement after - I'm so lucky to have you!!!

It sounds so cheesy and unoriginal, but I have to say it: Amman, you stole my heart! 🫠

I was warned what to expect, but I wasn’t prepared for that much love and so many beautiful people. 🥺

After a rough start at the airport (I honestly take the blame here regarding the condition of my passport 😬😄) the crew of @‌contapes and I just kicked it off.

I think never in my live before so many people before and after a set came to me and thanked me for the stuff I do behind the decks. I’m so flattered and astonished, that I’m allowed to brighten up the days of people so far away from home with these little skills I have. This gig really was inspiring. 🙏

Thats also why I’m really happy to tell you guys, that I uploaded the whole 3h experience from the night at @‌vudu.amman at @‌noga.wav 🦑🪩 It’s filled with tracks from @‌darioklein @at_ric @‌flave-uc @cioz @‌andreasbalicki and many many more <3

3 questions to Tadoh:

 🍀 1. what do you like about the genre u usually play in your sets?
I love the effect it has on me: I enter a special, almost meditative place when playing what I play. And while I take it very seriously, it puts me in a really playful mood at the same time 😀  In general I like it when there is enough space between the beats to feel the music hit you all sort of places, and when you lose the connection with time passing by and the drive keeps you low on your knees for hours on end. 
 
🍀 2. What's the strangest or most unusual talent you have?
I can fold my tongue in unusual ways.  
 
🍀 3. Do you have any special plans for 2023?
One thing that I am sure will feel special is the first Mystic Creatures Festival in September. Since I live in Copenhagen, joining Mystic Tales last summer has finally given me a Berlin-based musical family, and one that I can see myself in as well, both musically and at a human level. I think it will feel like a chosen family gathering. And it's on an island! In a lake! 🤯

⭐ R3NATA & Maria Theresia von Eberg present Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 260 ⭐

Musik ist eines der schönsten Dinge auf der Welt. Sie lässt einen Träumen, wirkt inspirierend oder lässt einen Tanzen. Darüber hinaus ist sie zweifelsohne ein Ventil der eigenen Gefühle. Ein Medium um das innere nach außen zu richten. Ein Mittel das einem hilft negative Gefühle zu verarbeiten. Und das Beste: Sie verbindet Menschen jedweger Kultur und lässt somit äußere Grenzen verschwinden lassen. 

Ein bemerkenswertes Beispiel ist die Freundschaft und das musikalische Zusammenspiel zwischen der Mexikanerin R3NATA und der Freiburgerin Marie Theresia von Eberg. Für KennreInnen der Szene mit Sicherheit keine Unbekannten mehr. Schließlich sind beide sehr gefragt, wie ihre Reisen innerhalb und außerhalb der Republik belegen. Kein Wunder, schließlich gehört ihr Sound definitiv zu dieser Stile, welches wir gerne in Clubs oder Festival hören möchten. Aber mal ehrlich, wer kann bei diesem bouncy, bassigen und verspielten Klängen schon ruhig sitzen bleiben? Wir mit Sicherheit nicht. 
Also, lasst uns entgegen des Aufrufes am Anfang des Mixes doch einfach ein Wohnzimmertänzchen wagen 😊 

Der Mix nimmt nämlich direkt nach dem Intro erstmal richtig Fahrt auf und schiebt ohne Umwege eindrucksvoll an. Ein Banger-Track folgt dem anderen. Dazu technisch sehr fluide gemixt, welches noch einmal die konstant hohe Energie von einem zum anderen Lied mühelos transportiert. Hier und da streuen die beiden aber auch melodische und verträumte Passagen mit ein und runden das Ganze mit diesem atmosphärischen Closing-Track am Ende harmonisch ab. Eskalieren können wir schließlich immer noch auf dem Dancefloor.

• Was sind deine musikalischen Einflüsse? Was ist dein musikalischer Hintergrund?

R3NATA: Zählt das Schlagzeugspielen in der High School?

Marie: Ja, zählt :). Bei mir haben 10 Jahren Geigenunterricht für das Mitwirken im Schulorchester auf jeden Fall dazu geführt, dass ich mich viele Jahre nicht getraut habe, musikalisch wieder selbst aktiv zu werden. I did not like it”!

• Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?

R3NATA: Nette Leute, Freunde, gemütliche Clubs und alles unter 103bpm :p

Marie: Das, was Renata sagt, aber vor allem auch die Fähigkeit aller Beteiligten, nach Hause zu gehen, wenn es reicht.

• Welche Gedanken mögt ihr uns zu eurem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?

R3NATA: Ich liebs, dass wir die Tracks des jeweils anderen lieben.

Marie: Der Austausch für diesen Podcast mit Renata war sehr inspirierend für mich, weil ich viele der Produzenten ihrer Tracks vorher nicht kannte und so ein Mix entstanden ist, den ich so nie alleine gestaltet hätte und trotzdem zu 100 Prozent liebe. DANKE!

At the end of the year, things are known to get a little rougher. The wind picks up and pushes clouds in front of the beloved open-air sun. In the evenings, there's a stiff breeze and the whistling that sweeps through the leaves of the trees signals the dark season. With our beloved memories in our luggage, we curl up on the couch and let the outdoor experiences run through our mind's eye again. Outside, the wind whips incessantly against the façade.
Autumn is here, spreading splashes of color here and gray fog there. In its inner conflict, which nature imposes on it as a link between the extremes, it develops a character all of its own. It not only combines the elements of the preceding and following, but also gives the world its own peculiar brilliance. On the one hand effervescent, on the other emphatically in love with detail, he enchants and gently accompanies the slowly tiring spirits into the early dawning cold.

Today's deep story by Maria Theresia von Eberg is just as in love with detail as the fall. She combines downtempo with driving bass and covers this mixture with her own fresh ideas.
