Starting off, a robotic mantra and introspective atmosphere lead us to the countdown of Sonus. From there on the tension slowly rises until all the pieces come together.
A well-organised chaos of nautical sounds emerge that swirl the listener around in a vortex of its own thoughts, wherever those may be at the time.
As we dive further into the track a fresh breath of air in the form of an offbeat ravey metronome arises. 
Not soon after, everything dissolves into quietness leaving only the catchy stabs and growling sub bass behind.
This is only silence before the storm that is about to hit you though...

In the intro of Telling Me Lies, distorted sounds cloak a vocal. As more elements come into play, they begin to unveil the emotions that are about to be invoked.
The melancolic undertone of the tune is continuously alternated by a recognisable ambient pad that reoccurs, creating a seemingly different outcome.
The second half offers a different dynamic but the heavy-hearted context remains central.

Cedex & Higher Underground - Telling Me Lies

To Abyssal Music, the past 2 years meant a period of growth, carving out a signature sound and claiming a spot in the vibrant Belgian DnB scene.
This wasn't possible without all of the artists putting in the time and energy as well as the crew behind the scene and all the headz out there! So a big THANK YOU for that!

We start off 2022 with the Hidden In Plain Sight VA to celebrate 2 years of Abyssal Music. This release, which comes out on 11/02, features various up and coming artists who might have slipped under your radars but are definitely worth checking out!

The profit of this VA will go to the crowdfunding page of one of the artists on the release. His daughter had to go through surgery for a life-threatening condition and we felt it was our duty to help fund the hospitalisation costs. We are one big family after all!

To wrap it up, we wish all of you out there a smashing 2022 and we look forward to meeting you out there in the rave again, hopefully dancing to one of our favourite tunes.

Rubix - Rizla

As we enter the walled, lawless capital, we hear a tense siren which is frequently rinsed in the underbelly of the city. Here there is only one king and his name is darkness. Rhythmic stimuli give way to impending danger. Only at the surface of the city there is light and these two antagonists merge as the tune drops into full existence. 
The drop emphasizes the life up top, children playing on the unstable improvised bridges as well as the brothels and the unruled anarchic life at the bottom. In all its glory the city's heart is beating at a rate of 140 bpm. Never to be forgotten but also not granted eternal life. Mid range basses rule the streets as crime bosses and the drums are the foundations of it all. Welcome to the anarchy.

As a way of saying thank you for 500 followers on here, we've decided to give this sought-after dub from @sub-skankerz away for free!

It's been six years since Bulgarian researchers discovered an ancient relic from lake Tanganyika.
Since the beginning of the research, locals had been warning them not to disturb the powers that are hidden in the depths of the lake, stating that a Shetani (or malevolent spirit as it's called) houses this very artifact.
Reprimands concerning the relic were shaken off lightly, which in the end did more than cause for concern.
As the track commences, we can hear the Kabulo relic chant and curse everyone who desecrated its final resting place. Sub Skankerz beautifully crafted the build up with tension rising all around you and well arranged sounds to describe the doomed fate of everyone involved. Finally, the power of Kabulo is unleashed and Bulgaria and its researchers will forever remember the curse of the Shetani.

@skempa_dnb is a fresh up 'n coming Belgian producer that started making music in 2020. More known as 1/2 of the jump up duo @sub-skankerz, he now delivers a completely different sound than what we would expect from him on this solo track.
The dark and dystopian build up is guided by an ominous voice that warns you for what is about to come. That's when 'The System' takes control!

The title track of the EP, Lardar, starts off with psychotic indistinguishable murmuring accompanied by an (as it should be) eerie pad in the background. 
This intro descends further into madness as the tension builds and finally culminates, it dissolves into rumbling mid range basses, perfectly guided by crisp percussion.
The body of the track henceforth brings up a realm of machinery like forward pushing sounds that really make the listener immersed in whatever world this brings to their mind.
As the vocals reintroduce themselves the experienced listener feels like change. The change ofcourse leading up to the second drop, with slight variation to the first, 
yet again with great impact the track goes on and takes you to the end of this sonic journey.

Spliff immediatly sets off with a resonant all-telling punch. As the intro builds an impactful kick joins the gang, laying out the expectations percussion wise and telling us that this is going to be a real stepper.
The vibe becomes more clear as multiple vocals come into play suggesting clear southern rastafiri origin. This all comes to a peak when a mid range bassline makes you want to drop your bevvy. YAH MAN!
Diving into an ocean filled with african influenced mantras, basslines and perfectly suited drums; the battle goes on. When the switch hits, the tune intensifies and throws you off into a further stage of hypnosis.

With The Flow opens with cinematic strings taking you straight to a moment in time where, although with residual hope, you came to the realisation that the path you took wasn't the right one.
A vocal emerges, accompanying this mood by it's melancholic nature, giving the clear message that "all we had to do... was go with the flow".
The story proceeds from there on with mid range basses leading the way, empowered by a well fit pulsating sub.
Synths and melody traverse between dark & light, creating a perfect harmony between the two and complementing the atmosphere of the track in general.
At the end, a truly lingering inner struggle has captivated the listener, making them come back to this tune time and time again.
