We head into the world of deep house with the legendary Hong Kong Pomegranate Sounds collective @pomegranatesounds . Their Steroid Dub take on the track Cortisol goes deep, though it keeps enough thump to rock peak dance floor crowds. The vocals are dubbed and also slowed down, reminiscent of Mexico’s rebajada style, though in a new context on the other side of the planet.

Another edit I'm letting fly from my hard drive after many years of playing it at our Fleetmac Wood parties. The original is slow and I felt it needed just a few tweaks to make it a dance floor groover, mainly a major tempo push, some light drama and a bit of kick drum oomph. It's amazing how this deep-cut gets people moving. There's an other-worldly euphoria about this track - which by all reports, was Peter's state of mind at the time of writing it. People always ask if this is Santana, which is interesting since Santana covered Peter Green's (Fleetwood Mac) Black Magic Woman with great success. Thank you Peter Green for your beautiful music. Restrictive House Entertainment Presents: "Nico's Birthday Party Mix" (Part # 1)

For this instalment of The Sunrise Social we journey across The Atlantic to the good old USA and a very special mix from Studebaker Hawk. Hawk is a full-time DJ, record dealer, curator of The Drop Vinyl subscription service and also runs the Peace & Rhythm record label. Hawk has released tracks on Paper Recordings and Toucan Sounds, as well as a handfull of edits on his STUDS label. 

Based between Massachusetts, USA, and Guadalajara, Mexico, Hawk jumps at every opportunity to travel and dig for records around the world. This is reflected in his fiery 100% vinyl mix for The Sunrise Social, seamlessly blending Cuban/South American flavours with obscure disco and Italo pop. 
A big thanks to Studebaker Hawk for finding the time to record this awesome mix for the series.
