We are digging into some of the behind the scenes science of it all this week with Dr. Monica Berrondo of Macromoltek. Monica Berrondo, Ph.D., is an entrepreneur, scientist, and software engineer. Her expertise lies in antibody structure-prediction and analysis, protein functional analysis, protein mutational analysis, and computational approaches to complex scientific problems. Macromoltek seeks to streamline the biopharmaceutical research process in order to make new discoveries quickly and efficiently.

Central Texans have become well aware of the impact of invasive Zebra Mussels on waterways. On the podcast this week we explore what John Higley and EQO are up to at the Biosciences Incubator as they try and solve this growing problem. John, like many Austinites, has played in bands, worked in the tech industry, and now has a startup. EQO is working to protect water resources through early detection, monitoring, mitigation and eventually eradication of invasive mussels.
