My name is Carrie Paxson and I am a Top Rated Seller from Calgary Alberta, primarily in the category of Clothing.  I have watched the ebay forums on facebook go bonkers over the updated Simplified Returns policy and the perceived impact of 100% paid returns on our Ebay Stores.  Top Rated Seller As of June 1, 2018 Ebay requires that Top Rated Sellers offer free returns in the US for sales on Ebay.com.  Returns are a hot topic for ALL retailers, not just online sellers.  For those of us who choose to play in retail, as much as it frightens us, I dont think there is any suprise that these types of return policies are a requirement.  If we want to sell, we are forced to conform.  This podcast does discuss my fear around this trend, but also, the opportunity that I am hoping may be present.  There is strong evidence that suggests that sales increase in the presence of paid returns.  Even though I am afraid of the impact, I am embracing the possibility that my sales may increase if I am now expected to implement 100% free returns.  I am not hiding behind rose colored glasses.  Lets be clear that this is a reality that we need to try on.  I am going to try this on before I decide whether it is working or not working.  I am trusting the process, and committing to Ebay.  If this return policy does not work for certain categories, I will re-evaluate them.  Until then, bring it on!

Yesterday we talked about the new Simplified Returns Policy with Ebay that came into effect June 1st 2018 as it relates to Top Rated Seller and the requirement to implement free paid returns to be a part of that program.  Today I am discussing how I implemented it in my Ebay Anchor Store, and my grappling between fear and excitement.

How I Implemented Simplified Returns In My Ebay Store

Online sellers, you know the drill.  You start a website, load your inventory.  Time goes on, and you start cross posting that same inventory into other online marketplaces.  It sells.  You go back to your original website and delete the listing.  Sales increase, but mistakes happen, and slowly you start having problems.  So you do a complete count of everything.  For a month or two, your faith in your inventory counts are restored, until it happens all over again.

This story has been going on for me for six years.

For the last five months, I have been going through a data cleanup on three websites in order to sync up my inventory into SellerActive.  Centralized inventory will give me the ability to "push" to the different selling channels.  When something sells, all marketplaces update.  

Sounds like a dream right?  Well, not yet!  Once I get this data cleaned up, it will be!

I started this podcast less than a week ago and was so eager to get into the Simplified Returns policy on Ebay, that I failed to introduce myself!

I am in the midst of the SellerActive implementation, Ebay Open is upon us, and I am working towards becoming a Shopify Partner, so I probably jumped in a little too quickly.

Between the content sharing, I am going to endeavor to introduce myself, so that those who listen to this podcast get an understanding of who I am and where I came from in this ecommerce journey.
