“Accuface presents Tunnel Trance Club” is such compilation, which all Tunnel Records fans have been waiting for. Following the amazing success of “Metrophonic Resistance Vol. 1” on Accuface’ eponymous own record label, Tunnel Records didn’t miss this opportunity to properly celebrate Accuface’s 18 year artist anniversary and asked him to create and compile a new compilation: “Tunnel Trance Club” was born!

"Tunnel Trance Club" compilation confidently unites diverse powerful styles such as Uplifting Trance, Progressive Trance, Hard Trance, Hardstyle and the High Energy Trance style, which has been founded and established by Accuface himself. In 2002 I released a quite "minimalistic" Hardtrance track called "The Change" for the Tunnel Trance Force Vol. 20. At that time I was still working part-time as an editor. I remember sitting in the editorial office to do some stuff and I thought to myself: "Hey, why not switching on DI.fm - the well-known internet radio station from New York City that was known for airing some really good trance stuff in those pioneering times when radio stations on the internet were still quite rare. Right after I logged myself in I heard some "cool beats" and thought instantly: "WOW - sounds like MY stuff" - and guess what it was: it was "The Change". I still remember that awesome feeling I had knowing that some guy in NYC at this very moment is playing my song for people all over the world to listen to - including myself! :)
p.s.: no VST instruments used at that time - all you hear is "real Hardware" - with tons of cables, real mixers...and all that stuff - and no rendering. All real time! ;)

Accuface - The Change (Remastered Original Mix)

First time released on DJ Networx Vol. 14 (August, 5th 2002). Then later in 2003 officially on vinyl (incl. "Locking on Target" as B-side) on Tunnel Records/Push up and (with a slightly different cover) on Vale Music/Electropolis in Spain.
Now included (Radio Edit) on my album "10 - Most Wanted".
One of the first songs where I included more and more (Vst) instruments an d effects within the computer (Digital Audio Workstation) - in Cubase VST 5.0. Although the majority still came from hardware. As mixer I used my Mackie D8b.


Accuface - Jet Lag (Radio Edit) (2003)

I wrote this song in 1994 and finalized it based on my experiences at my first live-acts in 1994 and 1995. It was part of a bundle of three songs ("On your Own", "True Creator" and "Accuracy"). After I signed my record deal with Tunnel Records in summer 1995 we decided to take it as the A-Side for my debut maxi-single (vinyl). Tunnel then introduced me to a small studio near Hamburg for finalizing purposes (I did not have my own studio back then). So I could use their analogue Mackie mixer console and some of their additional equipment (such as compressors, phasers... that were actually so NOT needed in this case...). So I put my machines into my car, drove to the studio in a town called Elmshorn and re-recorded my first three tracks there. Afterwards the studio owners - without asking me - put their name on the labelcopy of my vinyl, that suddenly said "....produced by "Tiny Tone Productions". They actually never produced anything of my stuff... I only used their equipment.

And I actually was never really satisfied with these re-recorded versions that were published on vinyl. I liked my original demo version so much more. So here you find the demo version I recorded in my room in 1995 with an old Phonic mixer case. This is the version you can also find on my first album "10 - Most Wanted". And here you can hear it in a freshly remastered version that I just made - October 2013 - 18 years after its initial recording. 

Production info:
Back then you couldn't just use a nice and comfortable program for creating music were you have all stuff that you need in one computer - as virtual equipment - like nowadays. We had to use "real" stuff. Machines that you could touch, play, control and operate with tons of midi cables... 
For this song I actually only used three synthesizers and one sampler. But I tried really hard to get the best out of them and to make the sound "phatt".

Due to the fact that I just couldn't afford all the stuff that you need for a proper recording (effects, compressors and so on) I made some "modular connections" - while I was actually recording in real time. So I used the input of my Moog Roque (that actually played the melody) for filtering the Poly 800 in some parts of the song. Automation was not possible with the old analogue machines... 
I had to write down a schedule that I had to follow with close attention while I was recording. And I had to be quick. So the actual recording process took quite long until I was satisfied. And as a perfectionist you are never really satisfied... 
But unlike many others who don't like their debut and old music from their beginning I actually still like this song (and the two others that where on that release). Remarkable is the fact that we already used tonal and distorted kickdrums that were having a renaissance a couple of years ago when the "Jumpstyle" hype took off - and that are now so common in Hardstyle.

Accuface - "On your Own" (Original Demo Version 1995) - "Anniversary Remaster"

This song I wrote at the end of 1994. Back then we had a "Progressive House" hype here in Germany (especially in my Hometown Bremen). Electronic dance music became more minimal and experimental - and SLOW (!) since Rave music became so popular and many DJs and "hipsters" wanted to go back to "cool". ;)

This was when many DJs (as well as producers) changed their style significantly.  But I didn't care about that "flip-flopping" and stayed "upbeat", fast, ravey and melodic. I made the music that I liked from the heart and not from the mind. "You are too fast and melodic! The EDM music is 138 BPM now and without harmonies. You have to go with the musical trend and fashion!", they told me. I completely ignored that and just didn't care about what people said to me what style I should produce to be "trendy". ;) 

But I got inspired and wanted to experiment more with sounds and samples myself.
Back then I extended (upgraded) my equipment with an Ensoniq ASR 10. This sampler provided me with  16 MB (!) stereo sampling in 44,1 KHz (CD quality). I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous today - but it was a MASSIVE technical progression back then!

You can hear lots of self-made effect samples in "Accuracy" as well as drumloops from some of my favorite 80s records. Back then Sample-CDs (like today's very common "Vengeance" stuff) were really rare and if you could get your hand on one it was very expensive - up to 300 Euros each). So many of us used to created our own samples. A practice that I really miss in today's productions.
 
Equipment:
I used a lot of sounds from an old and very small Yamaha Keyboard from the PSS series that was a Christmas gift in 1987. And the Keyboard/Synth I made my first "tentative musical steps" with. It had a very (!) basic FM-synthesis section. So I created some weird sound-effects and recorded them on DAT (Digital Audio Tape) for further use. 

The same I did with a very old Synthesizer that I found in the music section in my former school. It was stored on a cabinet and seemed not to be used for years - or even decades. The school was very conservative and so I guess they never used this machine - and preferred to bore people with conservative music. ;) 
This synth was full of dust.  It was an ARP "Explorer" - a programmable preset-synth built in 1974 (!). It was so old that it didn't even have a CV/Gate (early and analogue, similar to MIDI) interface to be controlled by a computer. So I borrowed it and spend a couple of days with diving deep into the pure synthetic vintage analogue sound - virtually "exploring" the "Explorer". WHAT A SOUND!!! Basic, warm analogue and just MASSIVE! :)

So I also recorded my "Explorer experiments" on DAT for further use. And some of those sounds you can hear in "Accuracy" but also in some "newer" songs like "Anything is possible". Sometimes I still go through this library of strange sounds and I always find something I can use.

By the way: what you hear above is the original version of "Accuracy" - as a 2013 remaster. I think that the original versions sound lots better - and this is the version (above) I played during my rave live-acts in 1995 until 1997 - while I was wearing a tail-coat and a top-hat... :)

This was my first Hardtrance track I have ever created and it is the third song of my debut EP "On your Own". I wrote it early 1994 and refined it during several live-acts. The version you hear above is the very original version in a 2013 remaster that (in my opinion) is the best one - not the version that was released on vinyl. This version has never been released before.
Minor side information: the song was actually called "True Creators". Someone at Tunnel Records just left out the "s". ;)

In 2001 I created my alias Aeon to release this song - because my label Tunnel Records wasn't interested in releasing it as Accuface (because at the same time I released "Let your Mind fly" on Sony Music). And having Tunnel Records rejecting it was the best thing that could happen: so I released it on Pias Recordings and it became one of my most successful records. It was massively supported by Paul van Dyk, Talla 2XLC, Blank & Jones and many others around the globe... and also "Radio Sunshine Live" was playing it on high rotation every day...good old days! :)

The production was at a time when electronic music was still created on "real machines" without audio programs (like Fruity Loops") and  virtual instruments like "Nexus" or "Sylenth" that are so easy to use today. 13 synths, drum machines and samplers were running at the same time in my studio. Some of them multitimbral. 32 mixer channels were used. Even the bassline consists of three different synths playing complementary. Finishing the whole production of this "Bombastic Remix" took me about three months - due to my perfectionism. ;)

My High Energy Remix contribution to this official remake-release of that BB classic from the year 2000. My goal was to find a suiting melody. I told myself not to release my remix if I don't find a catchy melody - since the original was a banging and groundbreaking track in terms of musical energy in 2000 that I still respect and like a lot! 
So I worked really hard on finding it. And then - when I was almost about to give up, one day before the deadline a melody came into my head. THIS melody! And I said to myself: yeah, that's it ... and so did Brooklyn Bounce! ;)
This is one still is one of my own most favorite Accuface remixes.

Accuface - Anything is possible (High Energy Upgrade)

On July, 24th 2010, a terrible disaster happened at the Love Parade in Duisburg (Germany), which will stay in the minds of the electronic music scene and other people worldwide. Mostly affected are the victims, injured and related persons of the accident though.
Each one handles what happened differently. The Bremen based Hardtrance producer Marlon Juers, better known as Accuface, decided to handle the disaster in a musical way.
Both griefs for the involved people and anger at the ones responsible for this incident influenced Accuface during his production.
“The Disaster (Grief and Anger)” was also placed on the “Tunnel Trance Force Vol. 54”. Now, the song will be additionally released in a special remixed and extended full version as a free download! This free download is a call, not to forget what happened in Duisburg and to help the involved people. Since in case of a usual benefit-song often not all of the income reaches the victims – Accuface would like to support a direct donation – and says thanks with this free song.
Especially for this matter, the DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) opened a donation account at Sparkasse Duisburg with following details (Bank: Sparkasse Duisburg, IBAN: DE20 3505 0000 0200 2042 04, SWIFT: DUISDE33XXX, Reference: Loveparade).
Hoping, that such a disaster will never happen again, Accuface thanks everyone for each contribution for supporting the victims and involved people. Even though this tragic event mostly disappeared from the media there are still people that suffer from that disaster – and we should not forget!

Accuface - "Hightechflash", "Sundown" & "Spize" from 1996 - 21 Minutes Megamix (2018 Remaster)

This my contribution to Rolf Maier Bode's remix album "Thirteen Nights". The album is a remix edition of Rolf's great Pop album "Thirteen Stories".  Rolf asked me for a remix and I decided for his great song "Vertigo" - since it inspired me most. Rolf is one member of the great 90's rave project RMB who by the way wrote the classic rave hymn "Experience (follow me)" from 1995 that I recently covered under my pseudonym Megasonic! 
Even if you are not into pop music in any kind I really would recommend give the albums a listen - and of course the remix edition (which is more dance). It's just great music - and it was lots of fun doing this remix! :)
