Born to Cuban immigrants on the northwest side of Chicago, Ace Mac is said to be one of the last few rappers left that still tells a story worth listening to. When he was ten years old, he was scouted by a voice coach that was attending an event at his grammar school. The coach trained him to sing classical music in competition. Ace eventually went on to compete at a city, then state level. But, like most other young Latinos in his neighborhood at the age of 14 he became a part of one of Chicago's most notorious gangs. Juggling taking voice lessons downtown at Chicago's fine arts building, and selling drugs on various street corners in Logan Square and Humboldt Park, Ace never fully dove into either side of his personality. Instead he figured out a way to cater to both. This gave him the ability to capture the attention of people from all walks of life. His first project, a mixtape hosted by Violator All Star Dj V Dub, Heavy Hitter Dj Farris, and Hip-hop mogul Fat Joe is still considered one if the best mixtapes in Chicago underground history. Rather than just paint a picture of street life, he draws from personal experience a certain poetic outlook on the world around him. His ability to compress 32 bars into a 16 bar format without sacrificing the listeners right to hear every word, has earned him the respect of many hip-hop juggernauts. In addition to hosting his first mixtape "All Aces Vol.1" in 2007, Fat Joe of terror squad gave him a spot on his smash hit record "make it rain /the re-mix." The song featured such greats as, Lil Wayne, T.I., Rick Ross, R. Kelly, and Birdman. Ace Mac has definitely shown his ability to hold his own next to the best in the game. Including Busta Rhymes, as proven on the record "I'll Kill" produced by Cool and Dre of TS, and featuring Dre on the hook. So far, Ace Mac has yet to disappoint his fans. Anyone who hears his music finds themselves asking the same question... "Why isn't this kid signed?"
