“When asked to compose a mix inspired by / connected to a favourite car, I took a flight of fancy into my ideal driving fantasy. I’ve done my share of long-distance driving, including a 15000 km road trip across North America last summer in my Dodge Sprinter. I enjoy the focused trance of moving scenery and take pride in the sheer challenge of an epic drive, and I suppose the ultimate spiritual iteration of that experience for me would be driving a fully customized ‘Dekotora’ truck across Japan, perhaps delivering some high-grade kombu, or more in-line with my current business, with a big sound system rigged up. The aesthetics of these behemoth vehicles is totally up my alley - from the hypnotic rhythms of their lighting arrays, to the freaky patterns customary in their interiors, dekotora trucks are a perfect blend of industrial power matched with human emotion, of form and function, a passionate representation of the owner’s style that elevates the trucker to the status of zen wheel-master.

Musically, I reached into some all-time favourite techno, a good dose of Afx sprinkled with suitably class acts like Zomby, Marco Shuttle, Daft Punk, Susumu Yokota, Atom TM, Robag Wruhme, Cobblestone Jazz, DMX Krew, I:Cube and Audion, as well as Multi Culti family players like Thomass Jackson, Ground & Red Axes, plus contemporary dons like Paranoid London, Fango and more, as well as a few other bits of Japanese atmospherics to bring the whole theme home. Trippy power for the endless road.”
