Gyöngyi and myself want to play as a street act this summer and this is our first demo together. it is also the first time I recorded myself playing ukelele. I love the combination of ukelele and double bass.

Florence Gee - Rivers

This is one of the first tracks that I transferred from my old trusty (and still working) Fostex 8-track reel-to-reel tape machine. Did a bit of cleaning up in Protools and made a brand new mix.  Pong Machine was a Pixies/Grunge inspired little outfit from Utrecht with Jeroen "Geyt" Geytenbeek on Guit/Lead Vocals, Matthijs den Duyff on bass, Gert Komduur on drums and yours truly on Lead guit/vocals. We played a mix of covers and originals. This is a nice cover that pretty much nails the song. 

Pong Machine - Feel The Pain (2016 remix from tape)

I was never much of a songwriter. Still this little song about a pair of sunglasses is uplifting and charming. This song did not make the Pong Machine demo because it was too different from the rest of our material. We played it live, only once. An instant hit, but it was not exactly what Pong Machine was about. So some twenty years after it was originally recorded,  I made a new digital mix of it.  Cleaned up the tracks a little. Had to do all the flanging again because the old mix was a live tape-to-tape affair. Used my trusty Electric Mistress for that. Love the Beatle-esque sound of this track. Even the hard braking 3/4 ending.. You may have heard that before somewhere. Enjoy !!

Pong Machine - Red Sunglasses (2016 remix from tape)

I always loved Amy Winehouse and this song is one of my favorites. I rebuilt it around the piano part that pretty much defines it. Besides a killer voice, Amy Winehouse had great songs and a good production team. I wanted to see if I could do it justice and make it sound really big. There's string parts in there.. brass.. church bells.. It just kept growing.. Then I needed a vocal.. Had a few friends give it a shot but none of them could really sing this in a way that fitted the busy arrangement. And along came Conchita. We did a short soundcheck and she nailed it in two or three takes. Sometimes you get lucky..
