Catz 'n Dogz present a brand new EP on their Step Recordings, this time coming from Spanish House Music veteran Danny B.

After dropping Prog House rollers from Baldo and Youandewan or 4/4 Techno flavoured cuts from Lady Blacktronika and Elisa Bee, Step Recordings is about to release something more soulful and closer to original House music. The man behind this is Danny B, a Spanish producer heavily inspired by masters like Frankie Knuckles, ‪Larry Heard‬ and Kerry Chandler. His 'Find Myself' EP is a collection of 4 original tracks, a masterfully crafted mix of acidy basslines, broken beats, warm pads and dub flavoured stabs, the perfect combination of elements for dancefloor fillers. On 19 March I had the pleasure of playing on a Sound System for the first time. Thank you so much Azadi Sound System for inviting me! I had an absolute blast going through some of my first-love songs, as well as some recent discoveries which I've been wanting to share with the world for a while, but never got the chance to. It was impossible for me to know that I'll be playing on a tower of speakers made for the bass - and not play dub.

The following tracks have never previously seen the outside of my living room before last weekend. Huge shout-out and respect to all dub, dubstep, and dnb djs out there. I feel like in order to be able to play this you need to realllly exercise your skills! It's a style which can let you travel between world in terms of bpm, vocals, tricks, spins, and just straight up replaying the songs from the bginning, but better this time around. "No rules" is a hard rule to follow.

Esoteric - Live from Mash-Up in the Mountains on Azadi Sound System

Oslo's Rave-enka is back on Paper with an EP that translates as the aptly named 'deep dive'. His trademark dry analogue drums and tech stylings put through the Norwegian wobble filter are present and correct.

Dypdykking goes subterranean with crisp percussion and a sinister bass before breaking to a Detroit pad that builds in intensity before the filters are open and it growls into late night basement stylings.

Drepern wobbles and bumps with a jacking analogue bass and minor synth chords as a pad from the outer breaks the tension. 

Lystigheten is all about the lightness of touch with congas that roll, synths that spark and drums and MPC2000 beats. This is equally at home in Detroit or Berlin.

Ladders takes a nod to the 90s with it's good time stabs and mellow arps and plenty of cosmic stylings.
