Working in and around the limitations of the global pandemic, the body of work draws heavily on their influences of Grime, UK Funky, Jersey Club, and more, bottlenecked and filtered through the duo’s signature sounds of heavy-hitting drum & synth patterns, designed with the dance in mind during a club-free blip.

Akito is no stranger to London's club scene. Over the last years he has released four EP's and an album, established his label Sans Absence, while maintaining his monthly show on NTS Radio. In his new EP for Not Now Records he finds a balance between his hard-hitting percussive sound and softer melodies that caption the repressed feelings of aggression, self-doubt and melancholy that the last period of isolation and uncertainty have elicited.
On ”Double Gin & Mood Swings”, the first taste of his forthcoming release, the UK-recently relocated to Tokyo- producer smoothly combines ghostly xylophone harmonics with a half-time, dancefloor-ready beat and layers of percussion.

MACHINE GIRL CLUE WEAR MIX

We're all on the dance floor. All we've been thinking for hours is elation and briefly "track ID?" That doesn't matter though. You look up as light peeks through bushes, birds chirp and music continues to play, a stark contrast to an otherwise still and placid morning. Echoing this contrast, dancers move with intention that is simultaneously languid and energised. They've been going for a while but show no signs of stopping. Maybe its something in the air, maybe its that friend who retrieved a tray of long blacks or maybe its something a little more funky. Regardless @cruelnoon are at the helm of this particular vibe on Shell Tape 29.

Side winding through left-field techno, twisted disco permutations, pop with a hardcore rave edge and braindance bass music, the Perth production duo's joyful romp covers all corners of the dance music map - both sonically and geographical. 

Blends and arrangements that on paper seem like a high speed u-turn are executed with steeze and flair, keeping listeners and dancers hanging out for the next eclectic selection that's sure to breathe new life into whatever setting you're in. This one isn't for the heads - it's one for all the dancers and impossible to not enjoy. Keep your ears open and eyes on the prize, endless rewards await.
