Candy That I Bleed

Philadelphia trip-hop trio Etheric Felines will release their inaugural EP, The Selves We Bury via Magic Death Sounds on Monday, December 1, preceding their debut live performance at the Barbary Sunday, December 3. Equal parts shadow and light work, the five-track EP includes the summer 2017 singles “Birth House” and “Buy My Ashes.” It explores themes of growth, rebirth and absolution through connection with the divine feminine. Blending noise, dream pop and hip hop, producer James Dream constructs imaginative sonic realms, contrasting industrial underworlds with sun-spangled paradises. Within these spaces, singer Cicada O’Kain hatches aching insights in crystalline melodies, while rapper Acid Orphan warps the terrain with her surrealistic visions. Though the EP charts numerous cycles of personality crisis, rejection and reconstruction, it concludes with a wish to dismantle the walls of the self and foster greater connection with humanity. The EP was recorded in Philadelphia and mastered in Bergen, Norway by Lucas de Almeida (Living). Orphan, O’Kain and Dream collided serendipitously in 2016 and connected through a passion for noise music, transcendental experiences and visual expression.
