“Ce mix est une lettre d’amour à “l’underground latino-américain”, un monde sauvage, émotionnel et profondément queer de musique électronique indépendante qui bouillonne à travers le continent. Chaque morceau ici a été composé par des artistes latino-américain·e·s qui créent leurs propres sons, souvent en marge des circuits dominants, mais toujours avec cœur et esprit de libération.

Basic Rhythm follows up his album 'On The Threshold' with an EP that lays out the explicit connections between hardcore and footwork. A connection made even clearer by the inclusion of a rare remix by Chicago footwork originator RP Boo.

2 Da Core's punchy rolling drums are levelled up against rough samples and a vocal hook pitched up and down in classic hardcore style. Get Up runs a tubby bass under hazy vocal samples and weird sound effects. RP Boo's remix of 2 Da Core disassembles the track into pieces, building a stalking helicopter-like rhythm which plays hide and seek with the samples, while the closing track Nuh Ramp rounds off the EP with tumbling micro-edited rhythms and a melody built from small colourful sounds that draw on the Caribbean roots of this music.

Deep Dark Blue presents an album filled with gentle surprises. When We Get Together takes you through lightly psychedelic melodies for the heart and mind to get lost in. Though highly polished as a production, a sense of underlying spontaneity implies a process that’s closer to an improvised jam session than a planned composition. The lush synths, complex percussion, and shimmering melodies create rich backdrops for reveries. Each song bobs and weaves through opposite contrasts, often going back and forth between melancholic to bright. Yet each song remains cohesive and leaves you wondering how you arrived at the end of each track.
