The Upir

One word: Cannabis.

The conception, recording, mixing and mastering of this was all done under the influence of, well, kind of a lot of cannabis. I think I did okay considering.

More words: one day I thought, "what if Guns 'n' Roses was a 60s psychedelic band like Strawberry Alarm Clock, and they decided to put out a groovy romantic ballad?" Finding no answers online, I decided to do it myself. I tried to give it a vintage 60s feel without slavishly copying a 1960s tone.

The Jorōgumo is a supernatural creature from Japanese folklore (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jor%C5%8Dgumo) that has a particularly elegant spider named after it.

Traitors

Aniara is a 1956 poem by Swedish author Harry Martinson, which was made into a greatly under-rated movie in 2018. It concerns a vast spaceship carrying several thousand refugees from an uninhabitable Earth to Mars which gets irretrievably knocked off-course out of the solar system and into intergalactic barrens. It's a sobering meditation on human nature and a shocking statement on our insignificance. 

It's also so, so, SO Scandinavian -- in it, a *machine* commits suicide out of sheer grief and ennui -- that I had to make a doom track out of it. Enjoy!
