Inaugurating the Contagion Discs catalog, Elijah’s (@eli_jah_m) Augmented is part psychedelic dancefloor opus and part insular meditation exercise. Over the past several years, the Kansas City-based artist, part of the city’s c- (@cminuss) collective, has quietly amassed a catalog of material that approaches rave with a delicate touch and a fealty to source material. Augmented is their longest and most expansive release to date, comprised of six epics intended as tiny, autonomous worlds for the listener to live in and zone out to.

At track lengths of up to 16 minutes, the EP demands patience, but doesn’t shy away from passages of exuberance, rewarding dedicated listeners and dancers with moments of pure exuberance. Progressive and psytrance are obvious touchstones, but tracks like “The Puzzle” and “Augmented (Ascendant Mix)” function less as genre pieces than extended riffs on familiar euphoric modes. Two beatless versions, “Eli's Exodus” and “Augmented (KCMO Mix)”, show off Elijah’s ability to assemble deep tissue massage rave cuts, boiling down the release’s ethos into its most immersive and therapeutic qualities.

Princess Error is Luiza - a DJ, graphic artist and proud dog mom for Masza from Wolimierz in Izery mountains. Together with the Wrocław-based @acidtropicaliacrew collective she's been exploring sounds in between UK club music, afro-centric techno and close to a lesser defined tropical imaginarium. Her specialty are genres perched between fast percussion loops and deep bass. The wave of deconstructed club has also informed her perception of a track as a conscious experiment, blurring the lines between the central and the peripheral.
