Berlin’s Open Music Lab is back with their second release: Quanta, out on 26-FEB-2022. We're excited to premiere one of the forthcoming contributions by morphena. 

morphena is an Argentinian-born emerging DJ and producer and has been a long-time student of OML and recently started becoming a mentor herself for new students. morphena describes the track as her first production where she can “imprint a hybrid between a club track and a song”, while keeping the lyrics as the main focus and center of the track - listen & support <3  

Open Music Lab: 
The OML label was born out of a supportive community of creatives from various backgrounds and abilities. It offers an opportunity for people to engage with unique blends of musical sounds that are enriched by different cultures and lived experiences. Quanta showcases the music and work of some of OML’s most committed students and mentors. This unique release shows the range of talent at OML and the musical bond and creative collaboration that comes out of the community. Each track on the release is produced by an OML student and is accompanied by a remixed version from their mentors.

As the war keeps unfolding, more and more people flee the country and seek refuge abroad. Sadly some are often overlooked and are left to fend for themselves in an unknown country with no one to turn to. This is why local community support is needed now more than ever. 

100% of the proceeds from the compilation will be donated to Bridges Over Borders Berlin - a community-based collective of fellow artists and volunteers that aim to support BIPoC, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized individuals with housing, essential items, medical care, integration support, and immigration advice.

morphena - Freedom Is Through The Body (Devil Emoji Remix)

Our very own Souci is back with an exciting new track on @Crazed-Behaviour's upcoming compilation "Neighbourhood Watch 4". The aptly titled "Provocative“ bridges the gaps between fast techno, trancey influences with stabs almost reminiscent of hardcore vibes and a hypnotic bassline that wouldn’t sound out of place on a banging electro tune, all held together by Souci's production prowess. A reverberating vocal snippet keeps you hypnotised while the rapid fire percussion piles on the adrenaline and provokes you to move your body to the grooves. The tune is premiering now on our soundcloud and the compilation which features contributions by Same-O and Unklevon, among others, will be available via Crazed Behaviour's bandcamp on 11.11.

We kick off 2023 with a stacked 12” that sets a blueprint for what to expect from the label over the coming months as we discover new possibilities of where Electro and other club styles can go.

German producer/rapper/DJ, $ombi, steps up with her first vinyl release backed with remixes by legendary producers from three generations of club music: Yazzus, Jensen Interceptor, and dBridge, all of which view the original through different lenses.

In a rap with lyrics in her native tongue, the original mix sees $ombi extolling the virtues of discovering and accepting yourself, and the inner peace that comes from it.

The first remix comes from International Chrome’s own Jensen Interceptor who hits us with an aquatic electro funk rewind echoing the Detroit bass pioneers whilst still sounding from a future oasis

UK legend, dBridge, follows this up with his “Surging Mix”, discovering the hidden link between Drum & Bass and Detroit Electro and showing that even after 30 years he is still determined to take music to uncharted territory, never resting on his laurels.

Closing off the EP, the hottest young producer in dance music, Yazzus, ramps up the energy across the course of five minutes that return techno to its roots in afrofuturism.

And as a Bandcamp-only bonus, the album comes with the instrumental version of the dBridge remix.

"3210" by Cramp is combining groovy old school electro vibes with modern yet nineties influenced synth and vocal programming. While trance is recently getting revived in clubs all around the world, Johannes Schuster is delivering a trance-influenced, straight forward tool bomb to get the dancefloor shaking with his "The Future Is Now".
