Ruby Amanfu is an American recording artist based in Nashville. Amanfu has released seven studio albums and multiple singles. She is known for being one half of the duo Sam & Ruby, whose album was named Associated Press Album of the Year in 2009. Amanfu is also known for her collaborations with Jack White in his all-female band, The Peacocks, and has widely appeared on his critically acclaimed solo albums, Blunderbuss and Lazaretto. In 2020 and 2022, Amanfu was nominated for the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for co-writing "Hard Place" by H.E.R. and "A Beautiful Noise" by Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile, and was nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award.

Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti, dite Dalida, née le 17 janvier 1933 au Caire (Égypte) et morte le 3 mai 1987 à Paris 18e (France), est une chanteuse et actrice italienne naturalisée françaisea.

Issue d'une famille italienne installée en Égypte, elle participe à des concours de beauté au début des années 1950 et tourne quelques films au Caire. Résidant en France à partir de 1954, elle connaît son premier succès avec le titre Bambino en 1956. Se façonnant un répertoire regroupant plus de sept cents chansons interprétées en plusieurs langues, elle devient une grande figure de la chanson française et bénéficie d'une popularité dépassant la scène francophone.

Parmi ses chansons les plus connues, figurent Gondolier, Come prima, Les Enfants du Pirée, Itsi bitsi petit bikini, Le Jour le plus long, Bang-Bang, Ciao amore, ciao, Le Temps des fleurs, Darla dirladada, Paroles... Paroles..., Il venait d'avoir 18 ans, Gigi l'amoroso, Salma Ya Salama, Laissez-moi danser, Gigi in paradisco et Mourir sur scène. Embrassant plusieurs styles musicaux, tels que le twist, la pop et le raï, elle est également une des premières artistes françaises à interpréter des chansons disco avec les titres J'attendrai et Bésame mucho.

Souffrant d’une dépression — en raison notamment d'une succession de drames personnels —, elle se suicide quelques mois après avoir été l'actrice principale du film dramatique égyptien Le Sixième Jour. Sa vie privée et sa mort font d'elle une icône au destin tragique.

Shaka Ponk parfois typographié SHK PNK, est un groupe de rock alternatif et rock électronique français, formé en 2002. Il utilise des éléments de différents courants musicaux tels que le rock alternatif, le grunge, le heavy metal, l'électro, le hard rock, le punk rock, le hip-hop et le funk. Le groupe chante généralement en anglais, en français et occasionnellement en espagnol.

Le groupe est composé de sept membres : Goz, un singe en images de synthèse, Frah (François Charon) et Sam (Sofia Samaha Achoun) au chant, Mandris (Mandris Da Cruz) à la basse, CC (Cyril Roger) à la guitare, Ion (Yohann Meunier) à la batterie, Steve (Steve Desgarceaux) aux claviers et aux samples. Bien que le groupe ait signé son premier contrat à Berlin (Allemagne), c'est à son retour en France que sa notoriété se développe.

The music of the Shoghaken Ensemble is featured on the soundtrack of the film Ararat. Harutyunyan's Armenian Lullabies was recognized by the New York Times as an outstanding world music CD in 2004.

Before performing with the Shoghaken Ensemble, Harutyunyan performed as a soloist with the Agunk Ensemble (founded by Hayrik Mouradian) of Armenian National Radio in Armenia, Europe, and the Soviet Union. With Shoghaken, she has performed in Armenia, France (including a 2006 performance at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris), Germany, Estonia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and the U.S. (including an eighteen-concert 2004 tour and an appearance at the 2002 Folklife Festival as part of the Silk Road project organized by Yo Yo Ma). In 2008, Shoghaken gave concerts during their second major tour of the US and Canada; the tour coincided with the release of the ensemble’s latest CD, Shoghaken Ensemble: Music From Armenia. Harutyunyan has also recorded with the Ensemble Karot. In April 2009, Hasmik gave a concert of traditional Armenian lullabies at the Giving Voice festival in Wroclaw, Poland, as well as conducting workshops in Armenian folk singing and dancing. In autumn 2009, Hasmik performed in concerts in the USA with the Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble, presenting the music of Komitas, Hayrik Mouradian, and Armenian lullabies, as well as participating in the San Francisco World Music Festival. L'idée principale de ces jeunes était de ne pas oublier leur propre histoire et leurs traditions, malgré leur propre amour pour Blues.

La musique qui leur sonnent fièrement est un amalgame de sons traditionnels amazoniens, de tons nord-africains et de « musique du monde » comme le jazz, le reggae, le gnaoua et bien sûr le blues.

Tarwa in amazigh signifie les gens nés et élevés dans le désert et n-tiniri est le terme pour indiquer le Sahara. Ce nom a été choisi pour leur culture centrée sur le désert qui est l'endroit d'où ils prennent toute l'inspiration. "Nous sommes la génération du désert, la génération qui doit prendre la responsabilité de restaurer l'importance de la culture, de la dignité et de la confiance qui mérite le peuple du désert".

Leurs chansons captent et expriment les différences sociales et la situation des peuples nomades dans le désert et les régions montagneuses. Leur but est de montrer au monde leur culture à travers leurs performances et de transmettre cette joie et cette façon de faire la fête, transmis de génération en génération.

One of the most important parts of Amazigh culture and North African culture in general has always been music. 

In Morocco, under the stars of the sky of Ouarzazate and on the warm sand of the Sahara, a group of young people decided to create their own band. A group different from all the others, an innovative and unique musical group, the Tarwa n'tiniri. 

The main idea of these young people was not to forget their own history and traditions, despite their own love for Blues. 

The music that proudly sounds like them is an amalgam of traditional Amazonian sounds, North African tones and "world music"; such as jazz, reggae, gnawa and of course blues. 

Tarwa in amazigh means people born and raised in the desert and n-tiniri is the term for the Sahara. This name was chosen for their culture centered on the desert which is the place from which they take all the inspiration. "We are the generation of the desert, the generation that must take responsibility for restoring the importance of the culture, dignity and trust that deserves the people of the desert. 

Their songs capture and express the social differences and situation of nomadic peoples in the desert and mountainous regions. Their goal is to show the world their culture through their performances and to transmit this joy and this way of celebrating, passed on from generation to generation.

Après la révolution cubaine de 1959, cette boîte de nuit fut détruite.
Quarante ans après sa destruction, son nom fut repris pour un projet musical, imaginé par Nick Gold de la maison de disques World Circuit et le guitariste américain Ry Cooder. L'idée de ce projet était de réunir dans un même enregistrement des musiciens cubains « campesinos » (soneros légendaires des années 1930, 40 et 50), et des musiciens d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Retenus à l'aéroport de Paris, les Africains ne purent se rendre à Cuba, et finalement l'enregistrement de l'album s'effectua sans eux.

L'album enregistré en 1996, "Buena Vista Social Club", rencontra un tel succès que le groupe fut incité à se produire sur scène à Amsterdam en 1998, suivi de plusieurs concerts au Carnegie Hall de New York.
Le cinéaste Wim Wenders fut sollicité pour les filmer. Il en fit un documentaire, en ajoutant les interviews, effectuées à La Havane, des différents musiciens. Le film fut lui aussi intitulé Buena Vista Social Club.  
                                                                                                                                
The Buena Vista Social Club was a mythical nightclub in the suburbs of Havana, Cuba (located at &quot;Calle 41"; between numbers 46 and 48, in the Marianao district). After the Cuban revolution of 1959, this nightclub was destroyed.
Forty years after its destruction, its name was taken up again for a musical project, conceived by Nick Gold of the World Circuit record company and American guitarist Ry Cooder. The idea of this project was to bring together in the same recording Cuban &quot;campesino"; musicians (legendary soneros from the 1930s, 40s and 50s), and musicians from West Africa. Held at Paris airport, the Africans were unable to travel to Cuba, and finally the album was recorded without them.

The album recorded in 1996, "Buena Vista Social Club";, was so successful that the group was encouraged to perform in Amsterdam in 1998, followed by several concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York.
The filmmaker Wim Wenders was asked to film them. He made a documentary of it, adding the interviews, carried out in Havana, of the different musicians. The film was also called Buena Vista Social Club.

His album gives a new colour to the soul that we recognize in the choice of numerous and diversified instruments. The themes addressed are at times bonasses and at other times shouting, which gives a very personal character to the artist. She sings for herself, for the pleasure of the music and the sensations it gives her, and you can hear it in her lyrics and voice intonations. My &quot;chouchou"; song from the album is undoubtedly Mama Said with its rocking melody, but also catchy and very bohemian. Cat Clyde will appeal to folk lovers above all, but also to all those who love an album where softness and rhythm are perfectly combined.
