Denez Prigent, born February 17, 1966 in Brest in Finistère, is a French singer-songwriter of songs in Breton. Originally from Santec, in Leon, his favorite genres are the kan ha diskan, singing and counter-singing to dance and especially the gwerz, dramatic song telling a historical fact or a tale borrowed from Breton or Celtic mythology.

Since his stage debut at the age of sixteen, he has made himself known by playing traditional a cappella songs, then by renewing Breton music with original texts accompanied by music mixing acoustic instruments and electronic samples and, in recent years, accompanied by a mixed acoustic instrumentation (Armenian duduk, gypsy horn, Andalusian cajón, Moroccan derbouka, Indian tablas, Iranian daf, bendir ...).

Author of seven studio albums, two live as well as a best of, he regularly gives concerts in France and other countries. Since 2011, he has been shooting and publishing under the name of Denez alone.

Depuis ses débuts sur scène à seize ans, il s'est fait connaître en interprétant des chants traditionnels a cappella, puis en renouvelant la musique bretonne par des textes originaux accompagnés d'une musique mêlant instruments acoustiques et échantillons électroniques et, depuis quelques années, en se faisant accompagner par une instrumentation acoustique métissée (duduk arménien, violon à cornet manouche, cajón andalou, derbouka marocaine, tablas indiens, daf iranien, bendir…).

Auteur de sept albums studio, deux live ainsi que d'un best of, il donne régulièrement des concerts en France et dans d'autres pays. Depuis 2011, il tourne et publie sous le seul prénom de Denez.
