Seat Belts Save Lives Radio Story

On 26 November 2014 the African Centre for Media Excellence launched its “Media and Politics in Africa Annual Lecture”. The lecture, headlined by renowned Zimbabwean entrepreneur and publisher, Trevor Ncube, explored the relationship between media and politics in Africa amidst the ever-changing circumstances generated from within and without the continent.

The theme of World Radio Day 2015 is Youth and Radio. 

To commemorate it, ACME held a desktop discussion to debate how radio stations across Uganda are involving youth in everything from programming and content development to outreach and audience participation. Why isn't enough being done to address the broadcast needs of the youngest population in Africa? What must change? 

We discuss these issues with Thembo Kahungu Misairi - South Rwenzori Messiah Radio Kasese, Gloria Kanyonyozi - Radio West Mbarara, Mary Kigo - Step FM Mbale, and Terah Kaaya - Bukedde Radio. Moderating the discussion is ACME's Rachel Mugarura-Mutana.
