I recently (3mo ago)  came across Tommy's music. Man, I had not known how beautiful an acoustic guitar could sound. Since then, I've been listening to his songs over and over. Endless Road is one of my favorite and tried to learn his finger style. The more I practice, the more I became aware how musically talented he is. I felt, his music was going even further instead of me getting close to him. It's almost embarrassing that I even recorded my play and trying to share. There are so many mistakes and things I should have practiced more, but hey, I am just having fun with it. I hope you'd enjoy it, too.

I bought Fishman Matrix Infinity last week. I did not expect much but my cheap and old guitar (Yamaha FG-302D) is now producing impressive sound via the pickup! It definitely enhanced deep low sound quality. Now I can finally throw out the microphone came with PS3 singstar :)  I am going to go with Audix i5 + Fishman Matrix Infinity from now on.

I wanted to record this song earlier but I was not happy about the sound quality. Thought about buying a new guitar but this pickup definitely helped.

Those Who Wait - Tommy Emmanuel (cover)

This is my first collab on SoundCound! Chris (<a href="http://soundcloud.com/cdmartin">CdMartin</a>) is an awesome singer/song writer. The recording I made earlier finally got a soul with his vocals. It couldn't have been achieved without his kind offer. THANKS CHRIS!!

During the mastering work, I learned many of cool features that GB had and I did not know about. It was also a challenging work for me because Chris consistently produces high quality sound as you can hear in his tracks. I recorded my guitar part again for this track with better microphone, spent lots of time on GB to make it sound beter. I am glad that we have come to a point where we are both happy with the sound. Most importantly, we both enjoyed making this sound together.

Note
I previously worked on this just to sound like beatles but with no vocal. Addition of his vocal miraculously and successfully turned it into his own. Rather than focusing on beatles-ish harmony lines, I have tried to respect character of his warm & soothing voice in this work. In the 'sun-sun-sun-here-it-comes' part, I was visualizing his voice being a morning dew gradually evaporating in to the air as the sun rises...

This is another beautiful song by Tommy I have long wanted to be able to play. His melody, touch and rhythm are all amazing...  I have practiced for the last few weeks. It still needs more refinement but this is as much  can get out of my fingers today... :p

Another beautiful song by T.E I had to practice. It is still hard for me to keep up the original tempo, but it's a great song to play, really fun!

I got a new guitar, Taylor 414ce, last month as my Christmas gift. :D  I really love its sound and how its neck feels in my fretting hand. This song is my first one with this guitar...

Bella Soave - Tommy Emmanuel

I completely fell in love with this song and had to master this guitar, too. Slower tempo and I thought it wouldn't be that hard to play.  Not a chance. I had to struggle with the B chord right off the bat, and for a while.. :p  It's worth the effort, it is such a beautiful song...

Ruby's Eyes - Tommy Emmanuel (cover)

This has been a good thumb-pick training :)  I have practiced this song quite some time... keeping up the tempo is still a bugger. This is the best take I was able to come up with last weekend (Feb 24, '13).  I will need to fix stuttering bridges later.. :p

Working day and night on weekdays, it has been hard to spare time for 'playing' music over family time. I used to play drums in a band - really fun and I miss it a lot - now I play guitar - a quick and easy way to satisfy my desire to play music. With recent technologies, sound recording/sharing has become a lot easier. I may be able to find something I have been missing out for a long time...

Equipment: Garageband, Scarlett 2i2, AT2035 - good enough set for a Sunday project :)
