Across the Dawn's fusion of rock and electronic music is as diverse as the seasons of the year. Ranging from slow softness to guitar driven intensity, their music comes together to create a sound with power, melody, and atmosphere.
Emerging from Pittsburgh, PA, Across the Dawn formed in 2011 and consists of Josh Morris, Alexis Smith, Shawn Minerd, and Andrew Reed. The group was formed by Morris and his cousin Johnny Rugola as the spiritual successor to their previous band, Etiera, who had released an EP in 2007 to regional success.
In 2019 the band independently released their self-titled debut album to both fan and critical acclaim. Divide and Conquer said “Morris is definitely a good singer and has range. He also embraces the affectation that made music similar to this become popular in the first place.” Their music caught on with worldwide listeners through outlets such as Youtube and Spotify, and it did not take long for them to get a national radio campaign with Rock Rage Radio.
The band shows no signs of slowing down. They released their first music video to their single “Horizon” and have plans to release more videos and tour to support their album. In the meantime, the band is working on new material for the next album aiming to be released in 2021.
Across the Dawn's wide range of influences can be found in their sound and visual elements. They mix a love for artists such as Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The Cure with inspiration from nature, industrial structures, and film. Like a photograph developing in the listener’s mind, their music is known to reach fan’s emotions and imaginations.
