CARL HANG is the musical operator of a legendary phantom mixer called the “Flying Crossfader.” According to the legend, if plugged into two turntables, whomever chooses to step up to the crossfader shall acquire the prodigious ability to cut beats ever so fantastically but forever be doomed to spin Disco, Boogie, House and Ghetto Tech records forever. The myth of The Flying Crossfader can be attributed to Deck 2 Deck Records, when in 2018, mysterious hip hop tapes started circulating Berlin, featuring the duppy cutmaster Hang and the dope rapper Otto. Many people claimed that these cassettes would cause their ghettoblasters to glow with a ghostly light. The scratches were so tight, it was deemed only possible unless someone had come to be possessed by the Flying Crossfader. MEGA BUFF can finally confirm these rumours to be true. Tune in to the Buff Ting Radio this Friday at 8pm to witness Carl Hang manipulate beats and boogies phantom style.

We are super stoked to have Rik Laren on this Mixed Feelings episode. This is so, because Rik is such a fantastic music connoisseur and vinyl head. He's the kinda guy who you will look up to multiple times to smile at because your so in love with his picks. Rik Laren has had a couple of project evolving around music in the 16 years he is spinning plates. He is part of the Electric Monday circle and curates parties with his collective Sign Of Society (SoS) around Berlin. 

Being way to humble about his skills we are thrilled to provide you with an amazing vinyl only House / deep house mix (our first on EVR). Minimalistic yet so detailed are the prodcution he chose for this set for us <3

Rik Laren about his mix:

With the mix, I wanted to recreate a mood and atmosphere that I often enjoy in my own late-night sets. I love playing with people's emotions on the dance floor, being more impulsive in my selection at late hours and breaking expectations without neglecting the groove. That's what really appeals to me from a DJ standpoint.

This housy mix is a vinyl set that is meant to create a sense of tension in the transitions through a bouncy selection with music from artists I've long appreciated, but also some I've recently come to love.

I'm very happy to have been able to contribute to the great Mixed Feelings podcast series with this.

It's The Hustle No. 78 and we have the pleasure of welcoming up-and-comer CHINYERE. After a spectacular performance at our CLUB CRITTERS event in September this is a real treat. 

Ever since they moved to Hamburg in 2021, CHINYERE has been interested in mixing music like Gqom, Sgubhu, Jersey Club, Afrobeats, UK Garage and Amapiano. A year later, CHINYERE had the chance to take part in a DJ mixing workshop by the amazing DJ Collective "Slic Unit". After this introduction they cannot stop collecting, arranging and mixing different music genres like Gqom, Sgubhu, (Proto-)hyperpop, Deconstructed Club, Experimental Electronic and PC Music.
