I have been a fan of Dusty Springfield since I was a teenager. Her soulful and characteristic voice will stay with me all my life. This song was just one of her many big hits and dates from 1966. I really enjoyed tabbing this out for pedal steel guitar and playing it. The backing track is a bit bombastic but matches the music from that time. Hope you enjoy this one!

One of the many great songs written by the famous Jimmy Webb. Sung and played by many artists. My version is a combination of various renditions. It starts with Buddy Emmons' country version (in E9 tuning on pedal steel guitar) and gradually moving towards a more jazzy arrangement (in B6 tuning) as played by Gary Lee Gimble (ZumEmm on YouTube), a steel player I like very much. Combined and flavoured with some ideas of my own of course...

The Beauty And The Beast

Groupie is a gem composed by Delaney and Bonnie Bramlet, that later became world wide famous hit record for The Carpenters under the song title Superstar. It was on my list to do for a long time and I finally did it. Own pedal steel guitar arrangement.

A great song of Ray Price (Composers: Carol G. Yates and C. Mullins). This awesome arrangement is from Steve Palousek. I figured it out by myself from his record. My Zumsteel sounds a bit mellow here, a less brighter setting than I usually have, to try to come closer to Steve's sound (which is still far much better though...).

He ain't heavy, he's my brother was in 1969 een gigahit voor The Hollies en door veel andere artiesten gebracht maar deze versie is me, vanaf mijn 13e jaar, altijd bij gebleven. Allan Clarke zong het geweldig en The Hollies hadden er samenzang bij gemixt. Hier mijn versie als een klein eerbetoon aan The Hollies.

This song was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane. Many artists have covered it and also in many different styles. Looking for a jazzy version of this Christmas song, I came across one sung by Idina Menzel, a well known American singer in musicals and films, like Disney's Frozen. I am very fond of the chordal arrangement from Walter Afanasieff, who has also worked for many years with Mariah Carey. The pedal steel arrangement is mine, I hope you enjoy it!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

I play pedal steel guitar since 1983 and have done so in several country bands in The Netherlands. I also played B6th in a jazz-blues band (what a great tuning that is!). Between 2008 and 2014, I have not played in a band, for reasons of study and work. 

I rejoined a small chamber choir that I sang in 20 years ago but it unfortunately stopped and I moved to another, slightly bigger, choir. This is a fine group of friends and it is really going well!

I got more and more interested to join a band again and I did so in summer of 2014. Unfortunately it stopped mid 2023, so I am available for new band experiences. Occasionally I played with a Neil Young tribute band that is also great to work with.

I am very fond of jazzy, bluesy music with great harmonies, but there is a lot of other good music that sounds great with a pedal steel guitar. Country and Americana of course but also pop and blues. This instrument just has all that! :)
