One hundred & thirteen brings Italian born, Berlin based Notte Infinita to the series. A mesmerising bass driven journey.  The euphoric, rolling mix of deep techno, bass & beyond is reminiscent of Notte Infinita's impressive productions. Having released music via  @oscilla-sound & @indexrecords, he explores space & rhythm through a psychedelic blend of deep, bassy sounds.

London-based pair Jack Rollo and Elaine Tierney aka Time is Away are continually exploring the relationship between time, place and power. They do so in a wide variety of ways from exhibitions for the Arts Council England to site-specific sound works, research projects to their nearly 10-year-strong NTS show. Each one weaves spoken word pieces with atmospheric music into soundscapes that physically and mentally move you. 

The pair's exceptional record collection and ability to manipulate your mood are laid bare once more in this week's mix. It's an escapist daydream where gently lilting rhythms melt away into psychedelic dub with intimate vocal whispers. Indian meditations captivate the heart and mind while lo-fi guitar fuzz lulls you into a hypnagogic state. It's a delicate but powerful world of sound that reveals more and has an ever-deeper impact each time you listen.

"For "The Reformer Mix Vol. 1" we wanted to change it up a bit from our other mixes that are either straight forward, or live recorded in the club. We used two Technics 1200's and recorded a longer mix session, then edited everything down, mixed in live overdubs with turntables, added vocoder melodies, and also a proper amount of shout outs. The idea was to present a highly condensed mix that still has the raw live feeling we love from playing records in the club. With more than 30 tracks in about 55 min we're using some of our favourite cuts, moving through our biggest influences from House, Techno, and Electro, mixing all with a solid base in Hip-Hop." -LNS & DJ Sotofett

Seattle based @livwutang has been on my radar for a little while now, as have a growing list of talented folks across the US.

This mix is a showcase of her trademark style, a fresh blend of deep & dubby, bubbly house, and bassy bangers. Liv's ability to build narratives whilst dipping between such a vast range of styles is super impressive and i've really enjoyed digging through her impressive range of mixes :')Most certainly a star on the rise to keep an eye (and ear) out for!

Montreal-based DJ, producer and label owner Francis Latrielle, better known as Priori, joins us for the 79th edition of the Phonica Mix Series.

Priori has become a firm favourite of ours here at Phonica over the past couple of years. His releases, which crossover through many electronic genres, from house and techno to IDM and ambient, have been picked up by such labels as Echovolt and Dust E-1’s Dust World in recent years, although much of his musical output, including his phenomenal 2019 album, ‘On A Nimbus’, comes via his own label, NAFF, which he co-runs with fellow Montrealer Ex-Terrestrial.

Miah Benton (adab) puts heavy emphasis on translating the unifying elements between us through djing. Characterized often by their palette of sounds, they made a niche for themselves spinning a variety of sounds. Having started djing dance music as a result of finding Cleveland's queer techno party In Training and being a Chicago born non binary black youth raised across a few states in the Rustbelt, adab seeks to unabashedly present refreshing perspectives and dialogues for both themselves and others.

“Adab, Islāmic concept that became a literary genre distinguished by its broad humanitarian concerns; it developed during the brilliant height of ʿAbbāsid culture in the 9th century and continued through the Muslim Middle Ages.
The original sense of the word was simply “norm of conduct,” or “custom,” derived in ancient Arabia from ancestors revered as models. As such practice was deemed praiseworthy in the medieval Muslim world, adab acquired a further connotion of good breeding, courtesy, and urbanity.
