I have a new process. I recently bought an MPK261 Pro keyboard and having a nearly full rack of keys lets me compose and experiment with my hands rather than the piano roll in Logic. I press record in Logic and just play the keyboard for a while, then snip out anything I like.

Once I have a motif I want to produce, I copy it into a new Logic project and start developing it.

The "vocal" is actually the "Soul of Runner" instrument in the free Alev Lenz plugin from Spitfire Audio.

I've been very conscious of mixing and mastering lately. This time, I used compressors and limiters to get all my parts consistently loud, then used a LUFS meter to adjust loudness throughout the track. The trick is not smashing the tone or losing balance but ending up with a nice loud track suitable for the House genre.

The cover image started with a public domain picture of a plate of Minerva from Ancient Greece, then I separated the figure and the plate background and added cubist effects to them in GIMP.
