Ahead by a Century

A horseman rode on into town
He roamed the streets his arrow drawn
He fired it off, some people fled
While others barred their doors and hid

The horseman rode throughout the land
Striking fear into every woman and man
And the horseman’s journey wasn’t brief
Across the land there was no relief

He came for those who fled and froze
They couldn’t fight this novel foe
And though the man was terrible
The sherif offered no help at all

He told the people “We have control
Get back to work, open up your doors”
As some complied; their doors now wide
The horseman made his way inside

He rode through town worse than before 
And fired into every open door
The sherif cries he never did wrong
Said he fought the horseman all along

I sing to you from behind closed doors
'Cause I’ve faced the horseman and his pale white horse
I watch him make his way through town
And it looks like he’s going to stick around
