Today's a special day for me friends,

I haven't released an original in almost a year. I realized that although I was garnering support from some of the greats that I looked up to, like Armin, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, etc; none of it mattered, because I found myself doing something that wasn't me. I was chasing trends, instead of trying to set them. I was trying to remake tracks that had already been made. I wasn't pushing myself creatively. Of course it's hard to do something different, but I think that's why I was scared. I was scared of failing, and I was comfortable. It's easy to do something people know, people like, something people have already embraced. It's hard to challenge yourself, take a risk, and continue to believe in yourself no matter what comes about. 

I think I made close to 50/60 original tracks till I made something that was so different but so cool to me. That track was Get It On. A friend of mine, this INCREDIBLE writer Jake Warren, sent me this vocal chop with a deep house track, but I heard something that had more soul to it. I started messing around with it, and in a hotel room in Austin, where I was stuck because of some crazy hurricane, I made this track. I couldn't believe it, but it felt special, it felt different. And i wasn't in a big fancy studio, I didn't have my keyboard or anything. I had my laptop and my headphones, and I felt outstanding. What transpired that day changed everything for me, for Jenaux. I had a new vision, a new direction that was me, that felt like me. I didn't have to drag tracks into my projects anymore and try to see how I can remake that person's lead, or synths, or anything. I just went with the flow, and confided in myself.  After that day, I tested this track out for the first time at Give Thanks in San Jose in November, and the response was UNREAL. I knew i landed on something special. It's since been an enormous part of my sets.

The problem with doing something different creatively, I feel like people are inclined to hate, or tell you that you shouldn't because it's not what's typical, or familiar. Well let me tell you this, you do you, you trust yourself, and surround yourself with people who believe in you, who will support you no matter what. That's key. And then try and push yourself creatively till you can't go any further. Battle your mind with positivity. Seize your inner artistry.

Anyway, I really hope you guys dig this track, it's the beginning of something special. I have so much more in store for you, already ready to go. Praying that you guys stick with me on this incredible journey. Thank you all for the support in the past and the future.

Lee Walker vs. DJ Deeon feat. Katy B’s ‘Freak Like Me’ is without question the house record of 2016. Lee Walker’s remix of DJ Deeon’s rare classic first made its national radio debut via an Annie Mac ‘Hottest Record’, with Pete Tong making it his Essential New Tune the same night; further radio support quickly followed from Danny Howard (Future Anthem), MistaJam (Jam Hot), Kiss Fresh, and more. Within weeks the track had hit No.1 on Beatport, topped tastemaker charts (Buzz), and went Top 15 on Shazam’s Future Hits. 

Now featuring a new vocal from UK dance queen Katy B atop the track’s distinctive bassline,  ‘Freak Like Me’ is a surefire contender for one of this summer’s biggest anthems. On air and on sale from 17th June, with an impact date of 19th August, this single is a joint release between Defected Records and Ministry of Sound – a partnership that previously took Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ to No.1 in the UK singles chart in 2013.

‘Freak Like Me’ first set the dance music world alight after being played by Marco Carola at the Music On Ibiza 2015 closing party, a now seminal moment which went viral via YouTube. The cross genre appeal of the track has attracted heavy support from a range of DJs, including Disclosure, Dixon, The Martinez Bros, Loco Dice, and many more. And - alongside the recent remix from Armand Van Helden – it’s dominated the first waves of this year’s Ibiza parties and summer festivals.

In April, Katy B released her album, ‘Honey’, her third album and the follow-up to ‘Little Red’. Late last year she hit No.1 in the UK with Ministry of Sound alongside Tinie Tempah and KDA with her flawless vocal performance on ‘Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)’. She recently released singles with Craig David and Major Lazer (‘Who Am I?’), and Four Tet and Floating Points (‘Calm Down’).

Young British producer Lee Walker burst onto the scene in a way only possible in the digital age, transformed overnight from a bedroom producer into a breakthrough star thanks to his edit of ‘Freak Like Me’, but there's more to Walker than just one record. He’s released a slew of tracks for respected labels including Wiggle, No Idea's Original and Circus Recordings. 2016 gig highlights include Sankeys in Manchester, Ibiza and at Studio 338 in London, and The Zoo Project. He’ll appear at Radio 1 in Ibiza on 5th August.

During the 1990’s the now legendary DJ Deeon released 30 singles in four years for cult imprint Dance Mania, since then he’s continued to build upon his classic recordings with tracks through his own label, Freakmode, and DJ sets that carry on the raw spirit of ghetto house. Recent UK shows include Bloc and XOYO.

This is my first EP. It fuses the drum n bass genre with jazz techniques, progressively transitioning from ambient into a more aggressive sphere.
