Always Sometimes

After a year and a half of regular shows on Orbital Radio it's time for Always Sometimes to go into hibernation. We're rounding it off exactly how it started, with a 2 hour back to back from the shows founders Adam (@adam-stromstedt) & Onnie (@oncumyilmaz).

Recording of the EstimuloShow takeover at THF Radio ( www.thfradio.de ) with Jonas Ton, Duensch and myself at decks, broadcasted live from Torhaus @ Tempelhof Airport, 21st August 2020. It was the hottest day of the year (with a chill 37°c in the shade and probably 45 or more in the booth) so dont mind the occasional hickups and glitches :) Smoochies to THF Crew for the invitation!

Here comes the first round of Long Vehicle after the summer break. In the first hour Sevensol again convinces with his wide range of house grooves. Four to the floor, some breaky vibes, always keeping focus on looking forward.
Amond played the second hour and took the session to deeper spheres. Building from misty ambient tracks to dub techno. A journey to sit back and get lost in.

This is a visit Down The Stairs that we have been itching to nail down for a fair bit of time and are now delighted to bring it to you. If you're a fan of deeper sounds and have been on Soundcloud over the last number of years, fair chance you've come across the man like @estimulo ,  who also runs his @estimuloshow page.

A true modern day hero of all things deep house and techno mixes, this man knows how to select a 12”! As well as his insanely good and consistent online output, gigs have been racked up across some of Berlin's finest in Arkaoda, Tresor, OHM and Paloma Bar; as well as further around Europe.

It's rare to check Estimulo's page and not find a new mix every week, maybe even a couple in the space of a week. We are mega chuffed that (all being well and that he'll share it) our own DTS mix will appear alongside some crackers already out there.

Down The Stairs Mix Series 029 - Estimulo

Placid_88 gives us an education in Deep House. A mix comprised of 90's U.S. House, yes the real stuff. The sound-definition of the long contested sub-genre, finally gets the clarification it deserves. Deep from start to finish, this mix takes you on a journey through the groove, introducing you to things you may not have heard before; Placid_88 calls it The Gateway Mix.

Some words from Placid_88:
"I've been buying electronic music since 1989 and I'm still in love with it. Resident DJ for one of London’s longest running Acid house nights, behind a 14.5k Facebook group for crate diggers called We’re Going Deep, and I'm just about to release the first 12” under a label with the same name [We're Going Deep]."

"About the mix, while a lot of the UK was dancing away to UK hardcore, I was immersing myself in the rich immersive sounds of U.S. house. This mix is a peek into those sounds. Mostly from the early 90's but with a few newer ones. I tried to maintain the depth and warmth those records give. I called it a gateway mix as I intend to use it to introduce people to the sound of house, though they may not like it for one reason or another. Time will tell if it works or not".
