The four men sat atop the ruined husk of their city, basking in the absurdity of their own survival in the face of such utter destruction. Their laughter echoed sharply off of the barren concrete that fell around them as leaves in autumn, it’s tone reflecting the strength of their shared bond and amplified by the strength of their shared drink. They looked out over the city through the gap where a wall had once stood, before being torn asunder by a hulking reptilian beast that had passed through town some months ago. Their city seemed plagued by such things, with news of mysterious propaganda machines, corrupt criminal cabals, and strange biomechanical overlords coming to light in the months that had followed that initial disaster. As their gazes wandered through the crumbling towers of the city, the sky began to glow with an eerie red light. 

Before them, a rain of meteors swept through the sky, streaking towards one of the last untouched monuments of their civilization. Noticing this, the men calmly exchanged glances, calmly regarding each other as they waited for someone to be the first to break. A cacophonous roar interjected shortly thereafter as the first of the stones made impact deep within the city and the resulting tremor shook the men from their contest at once. As each scrambled to remain balanced in his chair and to retain the balance of the wine in his hand, they erupted into laughter once more at the acrobatic antics of their comrades. Returning their attention to the recent impact, they stared calmly at the approaching cloud of debris with detached confidence. With almost choreographed precision each donned a pair of sunglasses before raising their glasses in a cheer. Were there an outside observer, they may have regarded the men as fools. However, there was none, and they were not. For those who had withstood such a litany of destruction, what threat was a meteor shower? RIDO & THE GANG would come out on top. They always did.

RIDO makes his EATBRAIN debut and brings THE GANG with him for a collaborative EP featuring JOE FORD, COUNTERSTRIKE, and EATBRAIN label boss JADE as he displays his wide ranging sonic ability over four tracks on the RIDO & THE GANG EP. RIDO first takes center stage with the mysterious STRANGER which features his unique blend of melodics and fast paced sweeping basslines. JOE FORD then joins forces with RIDO for BLUEPRINT, adding his inimitable & otherworldly sonic textures to the mix for a driving bassline assault. COUNTERSTRIKE bring their trademark irreverence and hard edged sound to DA F_K, combining with RIDO to create a profaned bassline worthy of the track’s name. The EP is then closed by THE MAZE, a collaboration with JADE narrated by a psychosis inducing vocal. Arriving with THE GANG at his back, RIDO steps up to his EATBRAIN debut with effortless power and presence.

Fame and fortune: doesn’t everyone dream of such luxuries in our modern world? Indeed, such lofty positions seem to appear out of thin air to those who are visited by them, gifts from a gilt messenger that fall randomly upon those who do not even ask for it. What? Then, what must I do to receive such a visitation. Is it not enough that I want it? Is it not enough that I crave with every ounce of my being the admiration of all those around me? To be the object of their envious stares? So many waste their stardom, squandering it with their “effort” and “devotion” as though they’ve forgotten that they’re already famous! 

Were I to be in their position, I would certainly not waste away such golden moments with such pointless work. I would sit, not upon a couch but upon a throne, exquisitely decorated with only the finest of materials. There, I would languish in my lavish lifestyle, my every need attended to by the throngs of adoring fans who would celebrate my very existence. It’s a shame really that no one notices how fit I would be for the lifestyle, the parties, the photos, the “doing nothing” all day. I’ve certainly got that last part well practiced. We’re being famous actually a job, I’d be a shoe in for the position. It's not though of course, and all the smart people know that. Some may claim to have worked for it, some may claim to have taken years to reach their status, but I know differently. I know what they say isn't true. I know it's not you that makes fame, but fame that makes you.

AKOV returns to the EATBRAIN pack with his latest EP YOU WANT IT. Following up 2017s Shapeshifter EP on the label, YOU WANT IT is the latest in a high volume of releases from AKOV across further labels such as C4C Recordings, Bad Taste Recordings, and Othercide Records. On display for the first time within the EP are AKOV’s own rap vocals, such as on the titular U WANT IT, which features a rapid fire vocal lead before launching into a chaotically warped bassline signature of the AKOV sound. The twin mixes of BLIND then contrast each other, with the SUN MIX charting melodic course marked by reverberating synth sweeps and a smoother sung vocal melody, while the MOON MIX features an elastic bassline alongside these elements. Two solitary figures circled each other, combatants in an arena borne of their own destructive power. One sat upon the back of an eldritch beast, a terrifying mass of tooth and claw formed of horrendous ritual. It lumbered menacingly, providing a platform for the diminutive sor whom sat atop it. The sorceress’ dainty wings fluttered in anticipation as she watched her challenger, flecking droplets of blood shed in the engagement from their surface with every half beat. By contrast the challenger strode simply upon his own two feet, dwarfed by the size of the beast which faced him with the sorceress upon its back. As he tread his path he observed its every movement with each of his senses, watching, waiting, and anticipating what would come next in equal measure. The air hung still around the duelists, all sound awaiting the next step of their feet with bated breath.

In a moment the beast lunged forwards with a roar, its gaping maw outstretched towards the challenger. The beasts neck extended like that of a serpent, another impossibility created of the magic which coursed through its veins. Forewarned by his vigilant watch, the challenger leapt to the air before the beast’s maw, SEIZING THE MOMENT as he planted a single foot firmly on its nose. Enraged, the beast thrashed at its would be prey, launching the challenger further upwards & backwards. With practiced grace, the challenger took hold of this momentum, holding forth his blade as he arced towards the sorceress upon the beast’s back. With a flourish, the challenger pierced the malevolent heart of the sorceress mere moments after his initial leap, landing back upon the ground below obscured by a cloud of dust. Behind him, the beast shrieked in an increasingly high pitched wail, cut off from the source of eldritch might which had driven it. It shrunk rapidly as its cry grew higher and higher, returning to its original state as a field mouse before quickly scurrying away.

TOBAX returns to EATBRAIN with his first full release in the SEIZED MOMENT EP, bringing his frenetic and fast paced sound to the label with four furious DNB tracks. The titular SEIZED MOMENT features the vocals of HELO alongside a stabbing staccato bassline that is relentless in its out of the gate audio assault. BURNING quickly whips the embers of its opening into an inferno, as the singed edges of its bassline roar with pained power atop a pounding drumbeat. KAPPA’s mysterious introductory synth line bounces atop a breakbeat before dropping into a deeply aggressive metallic rhythm driven by a pulsating two step pattern, whilst INVISIBLE SPIRIT, the EP’s collaboration with BAD DISTRICT, combines its ominous atmosphere with a rushing arpeggiated bass for a crazed & spirited dash to the EP’s finish. With the SEIZED MOMENT EP, TOBAX truly makes the most of his moment, pushing his overwhelmingly aggressive sound to its limits on EATBRAIN.

Taking a step back, the inventor looked upon his creation with a mixture of pride and awe. Above him towered a clockwork golem with blood of fire and skin of steel, a protector of that which he had ordained worthy of protection. It’s profile displayed the raw strength of the forges from which it had been wrought, actualized by the servos and motors which drove its mighty body forwards in lumbering motion. Atop its head roared a constant blaze, its uncontainable life energy surging forth from any available outlet in a ferocious display of raw vitality. In a contemplative moment, the inventor then looked upon himself, diminutive and weak by comparison to the champion he had created. He thought of its purpose, shedding a momentary tear for those like him who might fall under its wrathful gaze, but then shook his head with renewed resolve. “It must be done” he said to himself, “They have not the STATE OF MIND necessary to rule this world”. Turning his eyes back to the golem, the inventor set his titanic creation forth on its grim path with naught but a single nod.

With a bellowing roar of the blaze within its skull, the golem emerged from the forest of its creation in a moment of stark contrast as it began to take its creators vengeance upon the city that lay before it. It was itself a city of steel and flame, which tore relentlessly at the lands around it in an exploitative & all consuming hunger. Jets of flame shot forth from the golem’s maw as it tread upon the inferior structures beneath it, reducing that built of this hunger to the component parts it so wantonly consumed. As it stood within the inferno, the golem itself began to feel its own gnashing teeth, the heat of the flames slowly stripping its steel skin to the bone. With a final titanic roar the golem reached a point of criticality, exploding in a massive gout of flame and molten shrapnel which leveled all that remained of what had once been the great city. Watching from high within the forest, the inventor nodded his head in a farewell to his creation, assured by it’s ultimate cry that this land was safe once again from those who would do it harm.


STATE OF MIND returns to EATBRAIN with four reimaginings of their past tracks by themselves and others within the harder side of Drum & Bass. Receiving a flip by Italian neurofunk trio IHR is the notorious collab with label boss Jade 'HIGHLANDER', which features the addition of a motive & fluid reece bassline atop the track’s already driving drumbeat for a dancefloor devastating sonic combination. STATE OF MIND themselves present a VIP of GIANT, which smashes forth on massive drums accentuated by simultaneous bass stabs in a titanic sprint beneath detuned tonal sprites. BYPASS is remixed by MOB TACTICS, whom bypass nothing as they push the track into overdrive in a flurry of furious basses, frenetic arpeggios and brief moments of levity provided by snippets of vocals. Taking a step back, the inventor looked upon his creation with a mixture of pride and awe. Above him towered a clockwork golem with blood of fire and skin of steel, a protector of that which he had ordained worthy of protection. It’s profile displayed the raw strength of the forges from which it had been wrought, actualized by the servos and motors which drove its mighty body forwards in lumbering motion. Atop its head roared a constant blaze, its uncontainable life energy surging forth from any available outlet in a ferocious display of raw vitality. In a contemplative moment, the inventor then looked upon himself, diminutive and weak by comparison to the champion he had created. He thought of its purpose, shedding a momentary tear for those like him who might fall under its wrathful gaze, but then shook his head with renewed resolve. “It must be done” he said to himself, “They have not the STATE OF MIND necessary to rule this world”. Turning his eyes back to the golem, the inventor set his titanic creation forth on its grim path with naught but a single nod.

With a bellowing roar of the blaze within its skull, the golem emerged from the forest of its creation in a moment of stark contrast as it began to take its creators vengeance upon the city that lay before it. It was itself a city of steel and flame, which tore relentlessly at the lands around it in an exploitative & all consuming hunger. Jets of flame shot forth from the golem’s maw as it tread upon the inferior structures beneath it, reducing that built of this hunger to the component parts it so wantonly consumed. As it stood within the inferno, the golem itself began to feel its own gnashing teeth, the heat of the flames slowly stripping its steel skin to the bone. With a final titanic roar the golem reached a point of criticality, exploding in a massive gout of flame and molten shrapnel which leveled all that remained of what had once been the great city. Watching from high within the forest, the inventor nodded his head in a farewell to his creation, assured by it’s ultimate cry that this land was safe once again from those who would do it harm.


STATE OF MIND returns to EATBRAIN with four reimaginings of their past tracks by themselves and others within the harder side of Drum & Bass. Receiving a flip by Italian neurofunk trio IHR is the notorious collab with label boss Jade 'HIGHLANDER', which features the addition of a motive & fluid reece bassline atop the track’s already driving drumbeat for a dancefloor devastating sonic combination. STATE OF MIND themselves present a VIP of GIANT, which smashes forth on massive drums accentuated by simultaneous bass stabs in a titanic sprint beneath detuned tonal sprites. BYPASS is remixed by MOB TACTICS, whom bypass nothing as they push the track into overdrive in a flurry of furious basses, frenetic arpeggios and brief moments of levity provided by snippets of vocals. Long had rumors abounded of places where the veil between worlds was thin, where one could walk into other planes as though simply stepping into their own home. Such points of crossing were said to be rare, and the few that occurred naturally were secrets well kept by those who knew of their location for they held the potential for immense power in their shimmering surfaces. Each such point was said to be guarded by a Keeper, unknowable beings from neither side of the threshold who kept watch over all that passed through, their existence proven only by the remains of those deemed unworthy that lay before their lairs.

For one who possessed apt knowledge of such places, passage through such portals was indeed possible with proper preparation. On rare occasions, when the energies of the earth rested in perfect balance, such portals would appear in the most isolated portions of the world. Those who could foresee this would wait patiently in such places for the day of crossing, preparing themselves for this most unlikely of opportunities. In focused ritual they would etch symbols into the gate’s position, warding them from the Keeper’s wrath. As the portal appeared they would take the momentous single step into the beyond, striding confidently into a world unknown as they passed through THE DOOR.

EATBRAIN veteran L 33 returns to the label with his next solo EP, THE DOOR, as he continues to champion his energetic tech focused sound on the like minded label.
