This one's for all the mamas. My kid has been throwing a lot of fits lately and this is mostly about that. I thought snotty pop/rock really captured that frenzied emotional state best. Between myself, my toddler, and my baby... everybody wants a piece of mama.

About a decade ago two things happened: I came really close to losing a family member to a sudden brain infection and my then-wife asked for a divorce. In both cases I didn't have an opportunity to tidy things up before the door suddenly shut. I wrote this song at the time but it took awhile to unpack the suitcase. As usual, I would much rather someone else sing this than me, preferably Harry Nilsson.

This is sort of like a cover of two songs at once: Flying by the Beatles and A Deep Blue Day by Brian Eno, Roger Eno, and Daniel Lanois. The two songs always seemed related to me. Like Eno, I used a Suzuki Omnichord to lay down the rhythm and washes of sound. It's the holidays so I put a few sleigh bells and voila, it's now a Christmas song. I'm pretty sure this is my first Beatles cover. Peace and love.

I guess I've been hopping around the Cloud long enough to be influenced by all of you. This one is pretty strongly influenced by the bucolic musings of the Cloud King, Chris Pellnat @pretentiousmusic.

From Wikipedia: "Mud daubers are not normally aggressive, but can become belligerent when threatened. Stings are uncommon." To this I can relate.

I got a steal on a steel drum off of Craigstlist last week. This is the first thing that came out when I started messing around so I went with it. Special guest: Siri!

Apeman - The Kinks

Baby of the 80s, teen of the 90s, obsessed with the 60s and 70s; an FM wannabe in a Youtube world. I guess I just wasn't made for these times. I like songwriting in the Gershwin, Tin Pan Alley, Lennon/McCartney tradition. I prefer records to singles. I prefer three minutes to ten.

According to my mama, I was whistling before I learned to talk. I played organ in the Memphis garage rock scene between 2000 and 2016. I've done a lot of studio work, adding keys to records by songwriters that I really admire.

I'm now focused on recording my own songs. I have a minimal home recording set up with a laptop, microphones, cheap guitars, drums, piano, and a grab bag of other toys. All my lyrics rhyme with the truth, or at least I think they do. 

Life is short and there are more good songs then there are raindrops. Which is to say: thank you very much for lending me your ears.

Rock 'n' roll is dead, long live rock 'n' roll.
