In this episode, we talk to Josh Knox who is a dj and producer from Auckland New Zealand and is 1/4 of Collekt House Group. He talks about his journey with producing so far and we talk about the house music scene here in New Zealand.

1. Josh Knox

Episode 2 of the high frequency podcast displays the beauty of vinyl only djíng. 

Horizontal Champion was born in 2021 by Ross Cockton. He talks through his journey with house music and various other genres from a very young age.

We chat about the history of the UK house scene and how that compares to the current New Zealand House music scene. 

He also gives us an incredible peek into his insane vinyl collection with a 75 minute mix to cap it off.

Be on the lookout for this guy, his live sets will be amazing.

2. Horizontal Champion

Today we have Sebastian (aka, Selknam) on the High Frequency podcast.

Selknam has made a name for himself in the underground minimal/house scene across the southern hemisphere. His passion for music and sharing the love with everyone is like nothing I've seen before. This guy really knowns his underground music thats for sure.

He owns two record labels, produces his own music, dabbles in modular synthesis and has an incredible record collection.

3. Selknam

On the fourth episode of the High Frequency podcast, we have a DJ and producer from Christchurch who goes by the name of Patella. 

He's a young, talented artist who is creating some really great electronic music right and definitely one to watch for the future in the minimal and house music space. 

We had a chat about all things creativity and inspiration in the studio and he's done an absolutely incredible mix of pure deep bouncing delights. You will definitely want to stick around for that.

4. Patella

For the fifth episode of the High Frequency Podcast I invited good friend Hamish Waugh to talk about the last 20 years of clubs and electronic music in Wellington, NZ. 

Hamish (Mishaesha Tinabde) has a wealth of experience when it comes to DJing, quality track selection, and hosting radio shows across NZ. He has a stellar collection of 90's and early 2000's House records and his sound is deeply influenced by the Chicago House era where he looked up to artists like Derrick May.

He's also done an excellent 60 minute mix of some of his favourite records that he has collected over the years.

Sarah Bronte started her journey as a DJ and music producer in 2004 while residing in the UK. 

After returning to New Zealand in 2008 she resumed her DJing career.

She taught herself how to use Ableton software so she could make more music to incorporate into her sets.  

Sarah has completed several remixes for established New Zealand musicians and has released her music on various labels, including paper recordings in the UK, a label that has been a staple in her DJ sets since she started collecting records.

As MissB, Sarah has had the opportunity to perform at numerous popular summer music festivals in New Zealand. Recently, she had the privilege of supporting renowned international artists such as Crazy P, LP Giobbi, and Basement Jaxx. In 2023, MissB also had the chance to showcase an entire set of her own productions at a festival.

MissBs mix consists of remixes she has made with NZ electronic artists The Dastardly Bounder, Max Maxwell, Michal Martyniuk and cusp. 

The mix begins with her remix of Sumthin’ Funky by the Flying Mojito Brothers & The Dastardly Bounder.

I’m really excited to bring this months episode to you as the guest is arguably one of the most profound, longest standing DJ’s that NZ has to offer. 

He is the true deep history of New Zealand's House music scene right across the country and his nickname “the godfather of house” says a lot about his passion and dedication to the electronic music scene in NZ. 

Greg truly is one of the most down to earth, humble and insightful guests i’ve ever had the pleasure to chat with on the podcast.

Our guest today is Dilby. He is a DJ and producer originally from New Zealand. After making the move to Berlin in 2012 he quickly rose through the ranks to become a regular favourite in the top house and techno clubs and festivals in Berlin.

In recent years Dilby’s global recognition has seen him develop an in-demand DJ schedule, touring across Europe, Russia, South and Central America and Australasia.

His music is crafted from a classic house and melodic techno palette but presented with a fresh modern twist. His sound is rich, warm and musical, but aimed primarily at the dance floor.

His music is a mainstay at the top of the Beatport charts, where he is amongst one of the highest selling artists in the Deep House charts. His sound sees him featured on some of the scene’s most iconic and respected labels and as an well in-demand remixer.

Dilby’s passion and talent for electronic music is evident from our conversation today, and I respect his craft as a fellow music producer.

Now back in New Zealand, he's infusing the local electronic scene with a renewed vibrancy.

Having released music on esteemed labels such as Serafin Audio Imprint and Underyourskin Records, Harry's musical journey has taken him from major festivals to Europe's top clubs, showcasing his heartfelt expression, musical depth, and innovative approach. 

His debut album 'In The Light Of The Open Door' and recent EPs 'One Seven One' & 'On Film & In Life' showcase his musical evolution and influence in the electronic music scene.

It was a pleasure to chat with Harry today as the first guest on the podcast to talk about playing live improvised sets. I found it really insightful

Simone has been spinning vinyl in London, Europe, Egypt and Ibiza since 1999. She's had  residencies at clubs in London such as The End and Match Bar. She’s also played many other underground clubs across london, festivals such as Bestival and Snowbombing, and more recently living in ibiza with a residency at Benirras Elements playing at villa fashion and art private parties.  

Between 2000 and 2004, she managed the record label “Kog Transmissions” where she promoted  New Zealand electronic music and brought artists to play in London at Fabric nightclub.

In 2020 she moved back to New Zealand and started a weekly radio show on AoteaFM great barrier island where she aimed to showcase a journey into electronic sound exploring the origins and genres.

Most recently, I saw Simone play a fully vinyl set at Shipwrecked festival which was exactly what was needed at the time of the afternoon that she played. It was deep, groovy, a little bit of early 2000’s and had the dancefloor moving till the early evening.
