Robert Hood's career is full of highlights, but even after more than three decades in the game, he continues to reliably turn out compelling, impeccably produced tunes. His 'Paradygm Shift' releases over the past few years have easily been on par with some of Hood's best material, and on February 5, the Detroit techno don will be bringing the series to a close with a third and final EP for Dekmantel. Ahead of the record's arrival, we debuted the hard-charging "Red Machine" on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

Next up on LFRMX is another batch of state-of-the-art club weapons. These tools are squeezing the last drop out of their original templates, making for a fun and exciting bag of trickeries. The A-side features a rare appearance from Ian Pooley‘s classic Silvershower-alias brought up to modern times, backed by DJ ESP’s millennial acid-hymn You Gotta Do What You Gotta Do, which still feeds on its iconic riff and vocals in this slower yet just as forcefully booming remix. On the flip, we find Faki‘s edit of an unreleased gem from his own label‘s artist Setaoc Mass, before the EP deliciously closes out on some abyssal ambient synth-cascades by L/F/D/M.

As with all releases of LF RMX, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded to the Berlin organization Straßenkinder e.V. to be used in actions against child poverty.

Undoubtedly one of the brightest and passionate talents to emerge in the last decade in electronic music, Maya Jane Coles eschews the fanfare and fuss of modern-day dance heroes, and simply puts her music and DJing craft centre stage.  And under her CAYAM alias, Maya has been brewing techno leaning tracks for some time, releasing on Hypercolour back in 2014, and now a sumptuous EP for Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains imprint.

Minimal, shape shifting sounds comprise lead track ‘Pleasure’, impelled with urgent, rumbling bottom end, whilst ‘Jmpng’ filters a bouncing piano loop over some cut up vocals and a playful arrangement.  ‘Seratonin’ signs things off in effusive style, as synth tones bend and warp around its robust rhythm for a mechanical and angular nugget.
