He couldn't remember the exact moment that love turned to resentment, but there must have been one. If there were a list of catalysts, it would be longer than his arm — so much had changed since they first met all those years ago. Did he blame her? He wasn't sure. But he definitely felt shortchanged, he'd been promised something and been given nothing: now it all seemed like wasted time...

The next release on Munich's Compost Disco sees Barcelona-based producers Velmondo and Priorat joining forces with Chicken Lips singer Jonny Spencer. Made up of two tracks, which get the rework treatment from Marc Piñol and In Flagranti, the EP is a heady melange of murky, hypnotic rhythms that chug along thanks to Spencer's commanding vocals. Both originals, one of which was a favourite of Weatherall and played on his last NTS radio show, are full of dark twists and turns over their near ten-minute durations.

Last year I met Sissi Rada. She was singing in Greek and playing the harp when I first listened to her. 
I asked her to record something with me as I wanted to use her voice for my music. We sat down, I played the harmonies on my Prophet 5 and she would jam over it. Her first take is the take you're listening to. Back then I was in my bedroom studio. We had noises from the street, roommates the next door, but the take captured the magic and the spontaneous moment of just doing music. I didn't want to record it again. 

Her lyrics are about the devastating political and financial situation in Greece and I tried - as much as I could do - to reflect that with my music.

DJ Koyote has long been a dab hand at discerning house music. Thankfully, his latest offers more of the same. Seeing the light of day on his own Supergenius Records imprint, ‘France ’n’ Trance’ sees the French producer perk up with no less than five original cuts, each of which boasts its own inimitable charm. 

Opening up the release is the sounds of the title track. A melancholy effort full of warm, hazy vibes, its skipping, playful ethos is characterised by its twinkling, charming melodies. A smile-inducing track that’s sure to prompt delirium on the ‘floor, it gets us underway with some distinction. 

‘Hey Baby’ sees the producer opt for more uptempo strands. Featuring a killer hip hop vocal sample and a series of off-kilter elements, it’s a completely different proposition to what’s come before - albeit one that emphasises the producer’s knack for the unpredictable. 

‘Just a Young Thing’ sees the producer hark bark to vintage Chicago times with a jam that could well have been lifted from Trax’s back catalogue. Full of booming kicks, claps and snares, this one plays out like a modern interpretation of a classic Armando joint. The quite expertly names ‘Ladonna’ is an exercise is peak-time funk flavours, before ‘Business Class’ sees us out the door with another track that suited to the night’s most fervent moments. An industrial-tinged track of techno persuasions, it’s a hot and heaving effort that’s as likely to leave you in a cold sweat as it is reaching for the lasers. There’s no doubt about it - Koyote’s latest is a triumph from the beginning to the end.

XAN is a Moscow-based producer originally from the town of Votkinsk – the birthplace of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. XAN then moved to St. Petersburg, and eventually to Moscow where he became part of the Johns’ Kingdom community. There, he began solidify himself as an established electronic music producer and DJ. His dedication allowed him to fuse new influences with his own musical background as well as single-handedly organize a unique underground festival in hometown Votkinsk. Later he becomes a resident of the main DIY club in Moscow «Rabitza» and a frequent guest at other notable events such as ARMA17, Boiler Room or NTS.

This record is dedicated to the entire Rabitza team people — «Рабы Рабицы» (Slaves of Rabitza).

Our favorite Russian punks, Locked Club mark their return to Tram Planet with the ‘Atom Hell’ EP, a 4-track assault that continues on their destructive path. With the title track opener (“Atom Hell”) a pulsing distorted bassline saturates as the fluttering melody drives on for maximum effect. Electronic Body Music is in full-form here; whether it be the pumping wildcard “Skreamer,” the hand-drum heavy “Memphis Mumbai” for the more adventurous-minded, or the Memphis rap-infused “What”—all make for destructive weapons for both club and body.
