i wanted to take it back to a time when you could get lost in your headphones to a dj's mixtape... a tape that took you on a journey of varying, unexpected soundscapes as surprising as they were harmonious. from hip hop, to future bass, to dusty/dirty beats filled with jazz, funk, and soul, i wanted to try to make something that straddled the line between the past & the present. something future forward yet classic & timeless. a place where golden age hip hop like biggie smalls & tribe called quest could live in the same place as today's modern sounds. to create something original as a dj rather than as a producer is actually pretty hard, and i sincerely hope u are able to get a chance to throw some headphones on, take a walk on a sunny day, and listen :)
