The final movement of my earlier piano improvisation 'Lumix'. Listening back to the whole performance I felt this stands alone as a piece of music and have decided to edit it as such.

Lumix (Redux)

This is a piano improvisation that was very nearly discarded. I recorded this several months ago but wasn't pleased with a lot of what I played, so forgot about it. I recently rediscovered it and found enough positives to want to use it. I fought the temptation to edit out the parts I didn't like. This showcases the good and the bad. Warts and all.

This is still very much a work in progress. The main riff came to me first and I had the idea of improvising around it very much in the style of Keith Jarrett on one of his glorious gospel vamps. Unfortunately I lack those particular skills so it never really takes off.

I call this Take #1 because I hope to revisit this one day and it's likely it will turn into more of a composition with elements of improvisation.

The Kaleidoscope Accomplice Take #1

A simple love song I started writing 10 years ago but never finished. This is just a recent demo as an aid to help me finish this soon. Ends with an improvised instrumental. It's not perfect but gives me an idea where I'm going with it.

Just a quick jam I put together around a double tracked mandolin riff. It soon deteriorates into improv. Also apologies for falling out of time at the very beginning. I neglected to use a metronome! Amateur mistake!

Idea #1 (Instrumental Demo)

My entry to 'The Piano Cloud' Silent Night Challenge, based on my own arrangement. This is the first time I've attempted to actually arrange a piece of music, rather than improvise it.

It's a little over the 30 second barrier, but I wanted to at least complete the whole passage.

Silent Night (TPC Challenge)

It seemed fitting to record my first piano improvisation of 2013 on the morning of seeing the legendary piano improviser Keith Jarrett.

A piano improvisation recorded shortly after 'XVI'. Having forgot to hit record on an improvisation recorded immediately after 'XVI', I needed to express my frustration and recorded this completely spontaneous take. It's not entirely successful, rushing through atonal, ballad and groove sections, but I think parts of it have a certain charm. 

Fragmentations

This is a piano waltz that I started composing last year but failing to find that "special song" adapted to be the music to accompany the first dance of my wife and I at our recent wedding. It had to be slowed down to make it danceable, but it definitely made our first dance even more special.
